Taking offense at "democrat party" is a very recent development that seems to be a side effect of the Bush Derangement Syndrome.

My earliest recollection of grownups talking about politics would be during the Eisenhower administration.

These were lifelong Roosevelt democrats, and they invariably referred to the "democrat party".

To say "democratic party" would have been considered an awkward affectation, and that was the case clear up until the crazies took over the democrat party after 9/11.

Anyway, it's nice that the sissyboy moonbats take offense. It makes them look weird and funny.

Republicans are members of the Republican Party. The Republican Party is made up of Republicans.

Following the above, Democrats are members of the Democrat Party, and the Democratic Party would be made up of Democratics.

Of course, considering the fact that DUmmies are pathological liars AND considering the fact that there is nothing about them that is democratic, it is understandable that they insist on being referred to as the Democratic Party. Regardless, the DUmmies are sure to put the "ICK" in any party.

Maybe we just need to start referring to them as the DemonRatTicks again.

What I don't agree with is his apparent decision to distance himself from Democrats. I think he should embrace DU and the brand equity it offers, and brand Discussionist as an offshoot of DU. The open discussion platform is a good one. The welcome mat for trolls is a little disturbing.

Through an accident of English grammar, "Republican" is both a noun and an adjective, while "Democratic" is simply an adjective, and "Democrat" is its counterpart noun.  The distinction is completely lost on the DemonRats at DU, of course, since they are functionally illiterate.
