What is Discussionist?

Discussionist is a general-interest discussion forum with a focus on current events. Unlike Democratic Underground, Discussionist is intended to be open to a wide range of different worldviews. Just go to discussionist.com and create an account.

We encourage you to sign up with a different username from the one you use here at DU. The message board culture is going to be different over there, and it might be more fun with a different name. Don't expect to find Skinner, EarlG, or Elad posting over on Discusionist; we've changed our names too.

How much ya wanna bet people are no more free to discuss diverse opinions there than at DU?

Jury system is being abused by the primitives to delete anyone who gives information that shatters their world. I've had 3 posts hidden and even the comments for 'Hiding' are along the lines of "I disagree with the posters viewpoint."

They're trying to claim posts are being hidden because of the post being "inappropriate, over-the-top, etc..." (whatever their little phrase is for having alerted). But the one's I've seen were basically:

primitive - "Here's why conservatives suck on this topic blah, blah, blah...."

CCer and/or CUer - "You're wrong and here's why....."

Soon to be followed by that person's post being removed.

They don't want engagement. They want to lecture and for you listen and agree. Well that isn't going to happen, so they have no choice but to delete.

I started several threads telling them to lay off the alert button and why. It's like talking to children; they don't get it.
