I found a couple of Morel Mushrooms!
I was out walking my dog and sat down to retie my shoe and I see this two inch morel. I've never seen one in real life before. I had never even heard of them until I saw people on DU talking about them last Spring. I looked around and saw another tiny one, about an inch long on the other side of the fence. It's so cold out I didn't look around for more but it'll be warmer towards the end of the week.

Anyone else find any yet?

1. I congratulate you on finally finding some morels!!

Is that freeperism still used around here?

But seriously, that's cool!

That's the whole campfire so far- just two primitives dancing around the campfire over a couple of what might be morels.

Having picked morels on and off for years, I would advise the primitive to make sure they're not false morels before partaking.

Or not.

So is the Dummy going to eat them?

That would be an interesting thread

Good question.  One of the pillars of primitivity is "Find a pill, eat a pill."

Morels don't look anything like a pill, but there may be some interplay between the pill pillar, and the primitives' tendency to stick things where they don't belong.

We can only sit back, watch, and wait.

Looking for mushrooms probably isn't in the DUmmies schedule.  It would cause them to have to get out of the basement and get some exercise.

40 years ago, the X-wife's brother(worthless hippie) would come to visit for a few days. Before leaving he would visit my parents on the farm. He wasn't the friendliest type so I knew something had to be up with that. Mom(unworldly type that she was) told me he would ramble over the pasture picking mushrooms that grew on or near the cow patties....SO, after I learned why he came up here, I would go out a couple days before he came and drive the tractor over all the mushrooms I saw in the pasture.

Wife thought he didn't come to see her any more because I was to rough on his lazy, sorry, nonworking ass. Well, there was that too but the real reason was no more mushrooms. :lmao:

You may have saved his lazy ass, some mushrooms are deadly, not everything in the wild is safe to eat.

I have been wondering about the mushrooms that are stuff sold at Rock Concerts.  Where and what did the come from ?

That and toad licking interests me.  What else is out there to distort the mind ?

I think when I was 13 or 14, a friend and I picked a bunch of morels.  We had them all checked over by a women who was supposedly an expert and the we fried them up with butter.  They were delicious as I recall.   However, I'm pretty sure there's mushrooms out there that will kill you in under 15 minutes.   They all taste good fried in butter, DUmmies.  Knock yourselves out they're everywhere.  Just pick any of them and start eatin'

Unlikely that the worthless hippy was actually eating them.  I don't know what the current method favored by worthless hippy scum might be, but back then the idiots would boil them to get the psychoactive chemicals out of them, discard the mushrooms, and then make tea or some other drink mix with the water, or so my worthless hippy scum acquaintances informed me when they were looking for cow-pie mushrooms.

Went to a hippie gathering where the youngest folk were 45. Some dude came about selling dried mushrooms in a zip lock bag.

I was interested and offered to pay a couple bucks to see what was going on and I had 3 of my kids jump on me and tell me NO, don't go there.

Darn all these things one does not do as a young parent but your kids do and when you get old want to try.    All the stuff they did as kids that drove the parents crazy, now the kids are going into their middle years and you are curious about life, the kids who did this stuff say to you NO.

One tells the kids to not do something--they do it anyway, then when years later down the line you wonder what was up and the very same kids you said no to are now telling you no to----
what a hoot.

Life is full of surprises.

Vestanumbers and Frank need to collaborate on a book.

That would be like Bill Pitt collaborating with William Shakespeare.

The best co-author for vestanumbers would be Amber, or maybe rsmithnumbers.

Think about it.  Frank could write one of his stories, then Vestanumbers could follow it up with one on of her rambling treatises of insanity.
