1. Snowing in Denver area, but not so crazy.

Supposed to get from 2 to 5 inches depending on location along the front range.

2. There was no snow in the forecast here

My phoebe and woodcock returned this weekend.

My poor woodchucks sit on the 2 feet of snow that surrounds their burrow and sniff the bare branches looking for something green to eat.

Poor little guys.

Oh, I'm sure they'll make it.

They're animals, after all; they know how to survive.

4. Can you put something out for them to get them through this?

8. I'm going to get them a cabbage and some carrots to munch on.

when it stops.

How about instead putting some chow out for homeless people?

5. you must be inland and/or north of me...

here on midcoast it was sleeting earlier, but just plain rain now. Hang in there. It'll be July eventually.

Yesterday was bright sun and close to 70. Just a teaser...

7. I got my "summah" car out yesterday

No snow tires

Silly me.

I keep looking at the radar - which says "rain", but the view out the window says "heavy wet snow".

It's already covered up the 10 square feet of lawn that melted out yesterday.

10. I was going to start planting my peas and beans today

but I've decided to wait until next weekend.

Thank you for the reminder! I don't switch to summer tires until the last minute. Usually I wait until property tax day and then remember that the deadline was 2 weeks earlier. This year I think I'll be ok since I'm remembering in advance, thanks to your post

I'm almost completely melted out here. Just a couple small patches here and there. I got tons of outside work done yesterday. Today's looking like an indoor chore day, which is a good thing...

11. The winter truck has 4 new studded snow tires - and they don't come off until May 1

and even then, I wonder if it's too early...

at least this year anyway.

9. It just stopped snowing here in the Nebraska panhandle.

We got about an inch of snow over the top of bumpy frozen rain. Ugh.

On the other side of Nebraska, up here on the roof, in the eastern foothills of the Sandhills, all we got was rain--and it's still raining--and reasonable temperatures dipping down into the low 30s, for which I'm immensely grateful, because it kept campers away.

Poor little guys.

Here is a window into how the warped looking glass the primitives use affects how they see God's creatures.

Since the primitives believe themsleves are always helpless to react to a situation, so they believe the woodchuck to be the same.

We were fortunate enough to 5 or 6 inches of the confetti from heaven.  Bring it on!

Our animals, domestic and wildlife, are fine.  Just like those in NE.

Yeah, jpak, should be so concerned about the human suffering around her.

We got a lot of rain earlier this morning and tonight into tomorrow morning we are looking at one to four inches in SW Iowa. Don't think the animal population is going to suffer any more than they have in the last ten thousand years so why waste food on them?

They're animals.  They generally survive.

If not?  Darwin, right?

On the western side of the Sandhills we have about two inches of snow. It's already melting, though.

Beginning mid-afternoon, we finally got snow too, of blizzard proportions, and it only recently stopped.

However, with temperatures just above freezing, it's not staying on the ground long.

The wildlife appears to have survived it.....

In the southwest area where we are, we got maybe 6 inches of snow, after at least an inch of rain, and a lot of sleet.

It started with rain, then turned to sleet for an hour or so, then turned snow. 90 minutes after the snow started falling and the wind kicked up, we lost power on and off for about an hour, then lost it completely for about 4 hours. One learns living in these parts, to own a generator, and we have, but we were a bit low on fuel. Fortunately we had enough left to stick it out. Its a good thing, because the roads here are in the worst shape I have seen them in since the really wet year 6 years back give or take.

We wont be leaving home for a few days, I think.

You're two weeks late in paying your property taxes???  You should be ashamed of yourself, and proud to pay your taxes.

Judging my the 6-foot Cedar tree in my back yard I still have about 3 feet to melt.  The banks on the road are still around 5 feet, but they are starting to go down. The sides of the driveway are about 3-4 feet.
