A Lady Named Irena

There recently was a death of a 98 year old lady named Irena.

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a
Plumbing/Sewer specialist.

She had an ulterior motive...

She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of her tool box she carried, and
She carried in the back of her truck a Burlap sack, (for larger kids).

She also had a dog in the back, that she trained to bark when the Nazi
soldiers let her in, and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking
covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time and course of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and
aave 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, and arms, and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out, and
kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it,
and reunited the family.

Most of course had been gassed.

Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes, or adopted.

Last year Irena was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize....

She LOST.

Al Gore won, for worrying people with a slide show on Global Warming.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

If the ignorant America-hating peanut farmer getting one didn't convince you it is worth less than zero, this should pretty much seal the deal.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

This story, in a sane world, would be known to all.  I have a tear in my eye.

I hear a story like this and then go look in the mirror and ask myself, "who are you?".

I would not sully this saint with a scummy award from the nobel people. She has received a far glorious award the moment she passed away.
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

just... wow

thanks
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

Amazing.
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Two more articles about her from here.

Thank you so much mama! I didn't see those when I posted this. You deserve a pat on the back (along with bijou) for making those posts first. Truly an amazing woman. Word fails me.

No kidding!  If I were Al Gore I would have had to decline the award and then proceed to tear the judges new ones for being such idiots.  Then again if I were Al Gore I would have gone quietly into a dark closet in 2000 and stayed there forever.
