Still if the winds are high enough, even the cities are vulnerable. No, I am not looking forward to fire season. A wet fall gave fires a lot to feed on. What I'm really not looking forward to is June. We've been spending at least 2 weeks every June wheezing from massive fires in Arizona or NM on the state line with Arizona, the mountains invisible from the smoke in the air.

Yesterday they threw the kitchen sink at what would have been a very small fire. a few feet of veg best case. (It was a barbecue by the way), why? As you pointed out, a few sparks could get structures going if it is windy enough. But when they dispatch a first alarm where from google maps it is pretty urban, you know they are damn worried.
