According to the census report in 2013, the median income for Californians with one income was $48,415.
According to CoveredCalifornia....the states version of O'Care, for a family of 4, the cost of insurance for a silver plan is;
$277 a month. However only the adults are covered, the kids go to medicare. The maximum out of pocket for the family (2) is $10400.
The best Platinum plan is $636 with a max out of pocket of $8000.
So if a family had a serious operation/medical need, the silver would put them out $13744 and the platinum $15632 for the year.
Silver would be 28% of their income and platinum would be 32%.
I sure don't see how that isn't considered expensive.
