"I'm from the government and I'm here to help"

So my club is not open yet and I got the itch to golf so I drove out to the suburbs this morning to play (too cold and windy but I did it).

So I get to this course that is over 100 years old and is going to undergo a major renovation. It was scheduled to start this summer so I ask some of the guys working there when it is supposed to start. It turns out the project is being delayed a year or two because the Army Corps of Engineers has concerns about stormwater retention and is doing a study.

So the guys there start complaining about the "government". First guy drops my headline here, nest guy says the government always screws things up, etc and they are just yukking it up.

Thing is, the course where I was at was owned by the county government! THese guys, who were complaining about governmental incompetence, were government employees!!

I just shook my head and walked to the first tee.

A perfect opportunity to have a cop jump out of the bushes and it was denied!!  Government employees aren't allowed to have opinions about government intrusion either.

3. But, but…it's different…it's your government they are complaining about.

Their government is A-OK. And by the way, if golfers had been swallowed up in a sink hole
on that course before the testing started they would have screamed about how the government failed.
 LOSERS...

Tikki

Pretty sure they'd have something to say about local/ county as well... too bad the primitive wasn't sucked down into a sinkhole.

My guess is that the golf course that has no problems for over 100 years was built quicker and for much less money than the federal government's report will be. I have $100 bill that backs that up, any takers?

The part about gov't employees seeing first hand everyday just how awful the gov't works is believable in that I've talked to 100's of gov't employees who say exactly the same thing.

You obviously don't know any government employees.

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I had a friend that worked for the county in the environmental department for a few years. He was shocked at how little the highly paid the workers worked. He was there for about five years and the department almost tripled in number of employees.

Quotes form him:

"You can shoot a bullet in any county building at 4:00 and have no fear whatsoever of hitting any county employee."

"Monday morning no work gets done because everybody is talking about what they did on the weekend. Friday afternoon nothing is done because everybody is talking about what they are going to do on the weekend."

"People take great pride in making it as difficult and taking as much time to do a project. They hate the customer, the taxpayer."

I am a government employee (local) and though I have found some very hard working, caring employees, most are not.  Even though a lot of them have Masters and Phd's, they are not the brightest people in the world.  We are inefficient, slow and don't care about our customers.  Managers are more worried about getting more pay for their employees than saving tax payers money.

Our county runs a golf course also but most of the workers are volunteers, so he may not be talking to an actual county employee.

I took an early retirement from the DoD because I was fed up with the waste, corruption, grifting, nepotism, and about anything else you can think of. I saw millions of dollars wasted on failed "pet" projects designed to benefit a few friends or enhance careers.

There were a few of us then, but I'm afraid not so anymore. Our governments, local, state and Federal have simply become organized crime.

Lost, you got the premise all wrong.

The OP DUmmie was taking this opportunity to rub his DUmmie caberneros's collective noses in the steaming pile that was his unspoken boast:

"I got plenty of free time and I can play golf, a rich man's sport, anytime and any where I feel like it. And you schlubs don't. Neener neener."

If his cat had thumbs, it would be statistic now.
