I haven't signed up for ACA because in large part I don't understand it

The estimator I used on the ACA website says I may qualify for ~$600/month tax credit. I don't pay $600/month in federal income taxes. I'm not going to sign up for something that will potentially leave me liable for thousands of dollars at the end of the year when I only pay a total of about $1800/year in federal income taxes.

If they can't explain so I can understand it, I don't trust it. My iq tests at 140 on a bad day (155 on a good one) and I normally have good reading comprehension. So I don't think it's me.

But I do NOT understand how this is paid for and I'm NOT going to sign any contract until I DO understand how it is paid for.

Sorry if this pisses some people off, but it pisses me off. They should have hired their campaign communications people to work on this, because it is not understandable. It should NOT be that hard to understand.

12. Go for it! Any excess tax credit won't be used. All this means is that you could be making
more money than you are and still qualify for the credits.

That is good, then, because I'm using last year's income to estimate next year's, but I'm per diem at the hospital and I'm going to have to quit the other part time job to qualify for ACA. So my income may go up a bit if I'm able to pick up enough hours at the lab.

I had held off because the insurance costs at that part time were something like $2 less than 9.5% of my 2014 AGI, so I didn't qualify for subsidies at all, but am living paycheck to paycheck and can't possibly afford a $150 or so expense for health insurance.

Socialism would be single payer, which I am FOR.

I also happen to be FOR CLEAR UNDERSTANDABLE LANGUAGE. I've learned in life to be very, very wary of weasel-words.

Tax credits have a meaning. If they didn't mean tax credits, they should have have used those words.

Meanwhile, so far this year, I've paid at least that much EACH MONTH.  When I have a couple of 60-70 hour weeks, they take that much from me in ONE CHECK.  And for the "honor" of that, I got to cut an extra $5K check to the IRS a couple of months ago.  Bottom line, I pay more in income tax than you make in TWO years.

And I'm not "rich".  I just bust my ass.  So why should I be up at 5 each morning, on the road before 6, put in a 12-hour day, so you can sit on your fat lazy "smrat" ass with your hand out?  Yeah, maybe I'm dumb for not telling you to piss off.  Maybe I'm dumb for actually thinking a good work ethic is a good thing.

But maybe you're the ****ing stupid one if you think your free ride will last forever.

In my experience, most people who brag about their IQ have very little to actually show for it.  You'll never hear a neuroscientist or an aeronautics engineer bragging about their IQ, they don't have you.  You can look at what they do and know that they are pretty darn smart. 

There are a lot of "smart" people who spent their lives hearing about how smart they are, who attach more importance to that little IQ number than it should have, who as a result consider certain types of work beneath them.  The Dummy types harp on about their high IQ's because that is the only claim to fame they have, they haven't managed to succeed at anything beyond some test they took as children.

I just did some reverse tax estimating. $1800 a year Income tax is about $26K a year,  which is $13 an hour (or so).  The Brilliant MENSA Member is shift supervisor at Hardees probably.

Quick trick to go from annual to hourly (or back): There are apx. 2,000 working hours a year.  Multiply or divide accordingly.

50+ years ago in high school, we all took an IQ test. The school would never tell anyone what they scored on the test. I was told I was smart, which if you ask me really doesn't say much about IQ. One of the teachers finally did say my IQ was above 120 I think that was what she said.

I will say this about standardized test....I always did well on them because I flat footed didn't give a damn how I did on them. I may have been a little above average in IQ but I think it was the cool and calm "don't give a damn how I do on this test" attitude that gave me extra points on them.

I was given an IQ rating when I was a kid.  And I work in computers, logic, etc.  Then I had to deal with those damn logic problems in the newspaper (they don't do them anymore since people are just too stupid).  My mom always figured them out.  They were all something like "Sally lives next Steve.  Steve has  pink house. There are no blue houses next to yellow houses.  There is one person in the yellow house and Steve is not him."

Those made it clear to me I am an f'ing idiot. My logic solutions are brute force.  I do elegant solutions but they are Brute Logic Force with a nice lace coaster.

Obamacare is "the never ending story".  There were 2300 references in the law at the time it was signed, that said; "to be determined by the Sec. of HHS". 

Since then, she's added 22,000 pages to the original 2700 page bill. She's probably still writing it.
