On Nate Silver and his prediction and being called Mrs Cleo

So what was the view of local readers when Nate Silver predicted with hard data that the dems would do well? I am willing to bet you were not as dismissive. Nor would you call him Mrs Cleo, or other cutesy names.

The democratic coalition does not show up at midterms, I can take it to the bank. It is not as simple as...GOTV. Those of us who are not partisans know what that means.

Republicans cracked the code, by the way. Why do you think items they want are preferably in off year primaries and general elections? They prefer the primaries by the way, even less voters, they know it. But they do make the election relevant to their hard core base. You might call it red meat, I call it wise politics.

I don't agree with them, but damn voters will walk through coals.

Now it is not the job of a statistician to tell you what the problem is. So I will, after all it is partially my job.

Don't take my word for it, go talk to people, that's what I do, and that is what I hear. Some of it is propaganda from the other side. Quite a bit of it is real.

2. I do not say where I write anymore or for whom

but I spend more time at boards, city halls hearings, and board of supervisor hearings than most people should. And we also cover candidates and election returns. (And wildfires)

In fact, I have to work on a secondary story from the last time I went to a committee hearing.

Don't bother with the party leadership though, and that is not my job either. I am not William Randolph Hurst who used his paper to get results he wanted.
I've noticed a difference between Hearst Castle and a crappy little condo, hard up against a roaring San Diego freeway.

I grant it, statistics is not my thing, but it is far from Mrs. Cleo

10. I know what lefties have to deal with

as I said, it is not my job, but damn it, I hear this elections really don't matter from precisely the voters Dems need to reach and hard.

The divide used not to be that wide, now as the Democratic party becomes (as it does every so often) the party of business. well. I fear a new party will have to rise to challenge them, like the Party of Lincoln did.

I know that damn history degree!!!!
She really wishes she didn't know all this shit.

DUmmies are ignoring this vital thread.

It suggests to me that Miriam whatshername, owner of the Orange County Journal, or whatever it's called, at long last--and very very late--called the cousin on the carpet and told her to quit mentioning the publication on Skins's island, as she's giving it a bad name.

Miriam should've done that years ago.

Probably true. But you know Crazy Miriam is a longtime DUmpmonkey.

I think Crazy Miriam is probably upset that nadin tries mightily to give the impression she's an employee, when in reality she isn't even reimbursed for gasoline.

In her own mind, Crazy Miriam is a journalist who would lose all credibility if she paid a whackjob like nadin.

Crazy Miriam is blind to the fact that she's a whackjob herself.

Dear Nutty Nadin, may a life Long Democrat reply? (I hope you guys are true to your word). The thing you need to be afraid of is called reality. It only takes a relatively sane person a few minutes of browsing the DUmp to realize the left is being hijacked by a bunch of freeloaders and dimwits. Anyone who even remotely believes in self determination (or is unwilling to check their balls at the door) are immediately ridiculed and banned. If I hear the word free again as it relates to government services I will slit my wrists.

You guys have done what no other person has been able to do in decades. Disenfranchised this voter to the point of sitting the next one out. May you reap what you sow, you sow.

The attitude displayed in this statement is what galls me most about "progressives".  You don't get your way so, you run away and pout.

I spent 29.5 years in the U.S. military protecting your and my right to vote.  I'm probably just as disappointed in the Republican Party as you are in yours and, I'm ,as always, going to be very selective about who I give money to but, I'm dammed sure going to cast my vote for the least useless bastard running.

I agree with this. Maybe even check out the candidates from parties you wouldn't think of. I wish the Republican party would adopt a more libertarian view on many things. If you don't like your candidates (and we've all dealt with that regardless of party...just look at our last 2 presidential candidates), then vote your beliefs and/or values. Voting is a privilege (not a right, necessarily) but also a responsibility. That's why it's so important for citizens to familiarize themselves with all sides of an issue and even candidates you wouldn't normally bother learning about other than the propaganda put out by political pundits, campaigns and facebook.
