Charlotte Mayor, Patrick DeAngelo Cannon, was arrested Wednesday by FBI agents for alleged violations of federal public corruption laws, announced Anne M. Tompkins, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

The federal criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, charges Cannon, 47, of Charlotte, with theft and bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, honest services wire fraud and extortion under color of official right, according to the news release from the US Attorney's Office.

John A. Strong, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Charlotte Division, joins U.S. Attorney Tompkins in making today's announcement.

No mention of his party anywhere in the story, so you just know he's not a Repub.

The Charlotte Observer finally got around to saying that Cannon was a Democrat. Charlotte is choked with liberals.

I was raised on The Charlotte Observer, ran a 22 mile route for 2 years in high school......but when they became so liberal I couldn't stand it any more, I quit taking it about 15 years ago.

Democrats have more than 100 cities that are corrupt, bankrupt, and have horrible crime.  The sad part is the crime doesn't stop in the streets.  It carries into the city hall with a lot of the officials including the mayor.
