they just had it on the local news. They are having a big jobs fair in Billings. Everything from McDonalds at $15 an hour to truck drivers at $80-100 a year. Or work the patch if you are tough enough. If I were a young man you could not keep me away from that place. But beware, it is most definitely the wild wild west. Crazy and crooked are rampant. All the snake oil salesmen are there too. Take a car and a sleeping bag because there are no rooms to speak of. But this is a perfect adventure for a young person to, if they are smart, could walk away in 5 years with their retirement secured and a home bought where they want to live.

I had a boss once who'd made a pile of dough through hard, uncomfortable work.  He was a scab at a striking paper mill.   :tongue:

Years ago, an aluminum plant in WV had a prolonged strike, to which the plant brought "scabs" in to work.

The union thugs thought it would be a good idea to place signs out in the road advertising that fact that "so and so" was a scab at the plant.

Most of them were removed, but one of the "scabs" left his, along with a chalk outline and some fake blood near the sign.  He also left his own sign, with only one word on it:

What is even more interesting about the story is the little micro economic lesson that one could learn from it.  Especially the dumbies.

I actually did a little research on the area, I think it was when rsmithnumbers was talking about a trucking job there.  In somewhat of a joking manner I told Mrs. Maxiest that we should move there, just pick up and move like families did in the old days to do what ever it takes.

Anyway, yes it looks good on the outside. But housing prices and I imagine food, water, electric are all sky rocketing.  Basically it evened out to what I am making to what we are paying here so there would have been little advantage.

The economic lesson I was speaking of is no matter if wages are artificially raised (IE the government) or raised via market powers the end result is going to be higher prices.  Don't get me wrong I am not putting down their little boom.  This is expected in any boom.  I am just pointing out the lesson it in that the DUmmies will never see.
