A friend told me about the showtime series Dexter and now I am hooked.  We just watched the final show for the first season and now have to wait until the middle of August to see the 2nd season.

While I was looking at my blockbuster account I searched for other showtime series and after reading reviews decided to rent the "Dead Like Me" Seasons 1 & 2.  It had great reviews but I was wondering if anyone here has seen it.

I also decided to start watching WEEDS as well.  My moonbat sister-in-law loves this show so it troubles me a little to watch it.  Dexter is mainly apolitical except there was a scene when it was Halloween and he was in a costume store.  You can hear what he is thinking via voice over and he said something about loving Halloween because everyone pretends to be a monster and just as he says that a boy turns around and has a Bush mask on.   :whatever:  There is also a scene when he was at the port authority and easily snuck in to the shipyard by just cutting a chain that was locked.  That was the only thing between him and the cargo containers thingies.  He easily snuck into a building and got on their computer and found the cargo container he was looking for too.  In his voice over he said something about what a joke homeland security was.

I liked Dexter a lot. I found "Dead Like Me" to be fairly funny and watchable. (my Mom would describe the show as "cute")

Didn't see them on Showtime though. I saw them, I think, on a 'big 3' network so I may have to wait a bit longer for the episodes to reach me. (??)

For tonight, I have high hopes for I Survived a Japanese Game Show but episode one was pretty lame. I'll give it one last chance in about half an hour.  :-)

I found the first season of Weeds at my library so I checked it out. I watched all of the episodes within 2 days. It was such an addicting show. I do remember laughing a lot. I don't remember what kind of politics there were, if any. If I don't remember the politics, then I'm inclined to think it wasn't that bad.

I haven't checked out the other seasons yet.

I have not seen Dexter or Dead Like Me.

You must rent the Dexter series.  I'm hot for a serial killer after watching it.  :p

I watch Weeds because I think Mary Louise Parker is cute.
The new series "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" is coming on right after Weeds this season, it's interesting so far, and Billie Piper is a major babe.

Have you seen Dexter?  For some reason he thinks a lot like how I imagine you think.   :p

This reminds me how fast a year goes by.  I have my free Showtime For A Year for 16 more days.  I won't pay for it.  We never watch it anywho.  All this time I've had no idea there was something worthwhile to watch.

I keep showtime just to watch Brotherhood. Dexter and The Tudors. The bastiches think a season consists of 4 or 5 shows though. Then they wait for about a yr to come out with 4 or 5 more.

Kinda messed up though when you are watching a show and the character you are pulling for is a serial killer.

Micheal Caffee should kick brother Tommy's ass just for general purposes.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I'll check Netflix for it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Saw both seasons on Showtime, have the DVD of the first season, watching the reruns of the second season on Showtime.

You know, he played a gay mortician in "Six Feet Under"?

That must be why he reminds me of you.   :p

I discovered it when I was in Mexico watching the Sony channel.

I thought it was really funny.

Does it still star Mandy Mandy Patinkin and Jasmine Guy?

Isn't Jasmine Guy a little long in the tooth to be playing such a role?

That is what adds to it -- she plays it like a jaded, long in the tooth cougar who was hot when she was young.  Her world-weariness really adds to the role.

They haven't made the show for three years now.  They only did two seasons of it.

It was pretty good -- like Reaper.

First season of Dead Like Me was awesome then it got kinda lame.

I saw Dead Like Me on SciFi a few times.  Seemed like one of the shows you have to watch stoned to "get."

I quite liked "Dead Like Me" and was sorry to see it end after two series. Although to be fair, it is hard to imagine how the premise could have sustained many more episodes. I also like "Ghost Whisperer" although due to the miracles of scheduling I seem to have seen only a random selection of episodes.

I loved Dead Like Me! I was so sad when it went away. The writing was great, the actors were great, the premise was genius. I loved the scenes with George and her boss at the employment agency. She's a scream! And George's mother was a hoot. Good show!

And Dexter rocks. I had read the book so I was hesitant to watch the tv show but he nails the character.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
