I think Diabeticman would not have an opinion, or anything to say, if not for his wife.  His OPs nearly always begin with "My wife said..."

My wife's friend said to her today:The problem with America is that it does NOT value it's citizens

She is from a European country and she went on to explain--

Your country does not value it's citizens nor does it work for you. If you where valued you would have universal health care and Universal education like we have. We do not need to worry about having the money to see a doctor for a simple antibiotic because we have a cold. Any child who wants to have a chance for a college level ( she used the term university level) education which may come to about $50 out pocket for minor fees but the actual education is paid for by our taxes. We pay about the same amount of taxes as you but our taxes work for us.

Once your fellow citizens realize and demand this than you will see your country turn around.....blah blah more blah
Interestingly, to me, the "friend" is doing all this comparison as to how the US is not as good as where she/he is from, and yet, here she/he is.  One wonders why that is.

Emphasis in the above excerpt is mine
This too shall pass.

Gee whiz.  I wonder what language that "friend" would be speaking if some certain booger-eating, butt-scratching heathens from across the pond hadn't gotten involved in a couple local kerfunkles the past decade?  :???:
Perhaps the next time the "friends" Yerapeeun utopia is have a hard time, they can call on someone else.
Please feel free to take the diabeticmooch with you.  He wants all that free stuff, paid by you.

If they had had a military stronger than the local Boy Scout troop the for past 60 years that we protected them, maybe they couldn't afford all that free stuff and we could have.....what then U-R-peeings?

Since antibiotics are totally ineffective against viral infections including colds, it doesn't sound like that 'Universal education' thing worked very well.

Universal socialist education = political indoctrination.

I think antibiotics is code for pain meds.

The Doc probably gives them vitamins and tells them they are antibiotics.

"That's why he's the doctor" -went to med school so he'd know which flavor of placebo to give the wackos.

Pupils in Austria are required to complete four years of elementary school (Volksschule). After this, gifted students have the option to visit higher learning institutions that prepare one for university, whereas the majority go on to vocational preparatory schools. Some vocational/general schooling institutions end after a total of 8 years of schooling, whereas the higher institution "Gymnasium" finishes after a total of 12 years. These students receive the "Matura", the university admissions certificate, after the final exams. Some pupils decide to attend trade schools after their general trading, which can also end with the "Matura", although these only offer admission into specific areas of study at tertiary level.

Just like my mother said...only the kids that do very well are even offered a chance at college, the rest are trained for vocations.  And my cousin ran up a $50,000 (converted to American) bill going to university...something that her parents greatly lament because after graduation, instead of using that expensive education, she married a bum and went to live in a commune.

A few more minor facts about European countries...at least the ones my mother was familiar with...you are not allowed to purchase any tools unless you have a license to use them.  For example, in order to buy a pipe wrench, you must show a plumber's license.

Overtime is not permitted. Stores are open different hours so that customers can always find what they want, like a konditorie (bakery), but they will have to know the local schedule or search for one because they aren't allowed to go over the 8 hour work limit.

These rules are to assure that there are enough jobs for those that want to work, but are just a small sample of the differences in freedoms between the US and Austria.  That said, I'm sure there are differences between European countries, but they certainly aren't the paradise the left believes.

Report reveals 'extensive' violence against women in EU

One in three women report physical or sexual abuse since age of 15, with largest number of victims in Denmark

Violence against women is "an extensive human rights abuse" across Europe with one in three women reporting some form of physical or sexual abuse since the age of 15 and 8% suffering abuse in the last 12 months, according to the largest survey of its kind on the issue, published on Wednesday.

The survey, based on interviews with 42,000 women across 28 EU member states, found extensive abuse across the continent, which typically goes unreported and undetected by the authorities.....

I lived in Germany on and off for a total of 9 years.  My friends, who made in the lower tier of taxes paid one third of their income to the government.  Yeah, they got free drugs and more spa time when they had arthritis complaints, but no one wanted THAT compared to me and hubby being able to keep more of our income.
And you are so right about the educational opportunities-one guy I knew was the principal of a vo-tech high school.  Anyone who could test out with higher scores were shunted off to college prep type schools.  Incidentally, I am very curious as to whether or not ALL 4th and 11th(?) grade students take those so called country surveys to rank countries in order of how well the kids perform.  In THIS country, everyone gets thrown in the test mix and boy does it drag down the scores.  I went to school with Mexican-Americans (always assuming they were even here legally) who could barely speak any English.  Kinda hard to perform well on standardized tests when you don't understand the language.  And as far as I know, special needs children with learning disabilities get tested and their scores lumped in to the USA total.  I actually like that our country is inclusive this way; my husband for one would never have succeeded as his did in life based on his aptitude in 4th grade!  Our nation is a land of great opportunity, which I have to constantly remind myself of when confronted with all the whining money sucking leeches, most of whom have their own talk show on MSNBC.

At least CNN temporarily grew a brain and fired Piers Morgan.  If MSNBC had a brain, they'd can Chrissy Mathews.

I was reading about Morgan in Wiki, it appears he's had a running feud with Jeremy Clarkson, one of the co-hosts of Top Gear for a while.  It stated that in October 2003, Clarkson emptied a glass of water over Morgan's head during the last flight of the Concorde, and during the British Press Awards in March 2004, Clarkson punched Morgan 3 times over Morgan's coverage of Clarkson's private life.

I always liked Jeremy.  Now, I like him even more!   :blowkiss:
