Missing out on a job interview.
« on: March 05, 2014, 03:17:27 AM »
I applied for a spot in the education department at a prison, and got a call today from the recruiter to set up an interview.

The ONLY day they are doing interviews is the day I have two different doctor appointments - both hard to get, and neither one in my small town (it took some shuffling to get them on the same day.)

Drat.  I'll stay retired.
This too shall pass.

Sorry for your disappointment.  I'm hoping something even better comes your way.

Rotten timing. But staying retired ain't all that bad -- if I could, I'd be retired.  :-)

I'm a little surprised they're not more flexible than that.

What would you do if you retired, other than sit at home and polish your horn?  :-)

Not really all that big of a disappointment at 71.  I do a lot of time in the gym (just switched to a new one) and with the weather here in N. Fla. improving I can spend more time in the yard.

Retired from USN in 1988, from Dept of Corrections as Corrections Officer in 2002, then worked in the Education Dept of the prison for two years after that.

More recently I worked in my former gym assisting (I am a PT through the American Senior Fitness Association), giving tours to prospective members.
This too shall pass.

It isn't all that bad.  I got a new chain for the chain saw, a new 8 lb splitting maul, and have my eye on several trees that have offended me.

Stihl.  When I bought it about 6 years ago, the guy said to 'put the choke on, pull the cord three times, take the choke off and if it doesn't start on one of the next two pulls you did something wrong.'

It has not failed, even after sitting in the shed for three months without running.

So, when I wanted a pole pruner/trimer I got a Stihl.
This too shall pass.

You really don't wanna know....

But since you asked, my day would be partially taken up by 3-5 hours per day in practice on multiple instruments. "Polishing" those things only goes so far....

Lots of other stuff.

The thing is, I do what *I* want -- not what somebody *else* wants.  :nunchuck:  :baby:

Not really. I take care of the homestead stuff without any prompting from her.
