Sun Mar 2, 2014, 04:10 PMnadinbrzezinski (130,187 posts) Will there be war over Ukraine? (Where the US gets involved that is)I doubt it, unless our leaders have decided that a war is in our national interest. In that case all the protest will not stop it, that's a fact jack, or if there is massive miscalculation on our part. or the Russians or both. The reality is that Russia is rebuilding an empire. Yes the 19th century called and the ghosts of the Romanovs are going, go West young man, and conquer. You need to reestablish the greatness of Russia. They also do known that we are kind of tired, like they were when the USSR collapsed. Ah the cycles of history. Both South Ossetia (remember the pounding of chests and talk of rights and all that in 2008), and the Ukraine have been in the natural sphere of influence of the Russian bear since oh the Romanovs engaged in a little Empire building. That original expansion precedes the US as a nation. So these games are really, really old. Though I expect the cold war to be given a new chance... and the MIC is celebrating. Whether I personally agree or not, is besides the point. This is actually less dangerous than North Korea (which could go south since Kim Jun Un is not that rational of an actor and his grasp on power might be a lot less strong than we all think. Of course, and I would not mind that, we might see that government implode and surprise all of us, but that is another crisis, and potential crisis) How exactly could this go south though? Leave the strong language to the side, this is like expected. If NATO decides it is in the interest of Western Europe to press Russia. Then it could go south. If it does go south, I personally expect this to be more than just a fairly low intensity warfare, like we really saw in Iraq and Afghanistan. As to those hippy punching... two things: Nation States use morality to prepare a country for war. Morality has like zero role in international relations. Really it is a zero sum game and real politik, People have a right to be critical of their leaders, having an effect is a whole different story. And yes, this is my personal view, if you are hunkering for war, any war, go enlist. Now back to not really posting important OPs here.

Sun Mar 2, 2014, 06:37 PMnadinbrzezinski (130,194 posts)Just something of interest you know how much we are not interested in actual war? CNN right now is covering that other great event, THE OSCARS. I turned to them since we have an international crisis. Things that make you go hmmm. But of course the dresses. we all need to know about the dresses, and the red carpet... now that is what I call (in this environment) distraction news.

I wonder what she would look like if she tried to do something with her hair, like a comb-over, a little makeup, plucked her uni-brow and shaved.
Ted Kennedy is the only person with an actual confirmed kill in the war on women.

If Ft. Hood was "workplace violence," then the Hindenburg was an air show.
