Lovely, I live in Ohio, But what I noticed, with the exception of Ohio, the rest are all southern states.

5 happiest states:
No. 5: Montana
No. 4: Minnesota eh
3: Nebraska
No. 2: South Dakota
1: North Dakota

All rural states, no big city pressures.

My guess is the only reason the Proglodytes are so fixated on oil is because it is a three-letter, single-syllable word. As a word it is small, simple, easy to spell and type that allows them to encapsulate volumes of rage. The perfect metaphor for their world view.

So it makes perfect sense as to why it should be employed as the foil to why people can't really be happy without scads of government loot.

As far as West Virginia, if PrezBo and the EPA would stop trying to kill the coal and gas industry it wouldn't be there.

We're not as burdened with primitives as Florida or Oregon or Colorado or Texas are, but we got some.

The Southern States aren't as happy because of 0care and all the other shite the Dems have rammed down our throats.  Prior to the 0 years, Southerns had insurance.  We didn't have an insurmountable deficit.  We still had a few freedoms left.  We may still have jobs down here, but knowing many of us will be soon losing our insurance, not to mention the ridiculous prices we now have to pay for insurance because of 0care, has reduced our quality of life.  Knowing our children and grandchildren will not have the same chances we had is disheartening.  Seeing our country destroyed is demoralizing.

Those in the north are accustomed to living in shit.  We are not.

West Virginians are different. Overstated stoicism is the best way I can describe it. Maybe Frank, who has a much better way with words than I do, can come up with a better term.

For instance... if you ask a guy how he is doing he will say "Can't complain, nobody would listen anyway.". Now on the face of it, sounds like he is miserable. The truth is he could be having a great day, a terrible day, could be dying of cancer and anything in between and he will tell you the same thing.  Now that is what he is going to tell his friends.

What do you think he is going to tell some fool on the phone that has an agenda?  That excludes the people like my dad who will mess with pollsters.

West Virginians are, for the most part, the happiest people in the country. That is why they always, no matter where they are, always come back home sooner or later.  That is a fact. And wherever they are they always follow the news in WV.

Can't speak for the other states in the bottom 5. I'm thinking it is pretty much the same.
