For the (self-proclaimed) smarterest people on Mother Gaia, they sure don't check pesky things like facts, do they? :???:
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand

"Those that trust God with their safety must yet use proper means for their safety, otherwise they tempt Him, and do not trust Him.  God will provide, but so must we also." - Matthew Henry, Commentary on 2 Chronicles 32, from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible

"These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."--Theodore Haas, Dachau Survivor

She didn't even play a convincing role as a judge in Law & Order.

However, this is classic "Blame America First" rhetoric.

That's probably the ugliest man I've ever seen.  :panic:
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Oh, now, a republic, or a federal republic, is still a democratic form of government, so the usage of 'Democracy' is correct, though the thought behind the statement is quite stupid.  It's not like anyone would actually say 'Repubicity.'

"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

The Democracy thing is a state and local thang.   Capitalism is national.

She could have said - capitalism triumphed over the Republic.

Our national government is also a representative democracy, it's not actually wrong to use the word in describing our form of government at the state or national level as a generality, unless you further qualify it by saying 'Popular democracy' or 'Athenian democracy.'

'Capitalism' is not a form of government at all, it is an economic philosophy or system that can exist under any form of government that allows for the private ownership of the means of production and the freedom to hire employees and sell the products.  An absolute monarchy like Saudi Arabia can be Capitalist, while a democratically-elected government can be so Socialist in its economic organization that large enterprises cannot be brought into existence without state ownership coming into play (They generally aren't, because actual control of them tends to fall into the hands of oligarchies who have a vested financial interest in private ownership of property for large enterprises).

Now this is just my personal opinion, but the endless hairsplitting and one-upmanship about the use of the word 'Democracy' to describe the US by anyone with whom we disagree does not make us look smarter or win arguments, it just makes us look like nit-picking twerps, since our stickling about it is not entirely correct either.
