I don't really follow football, just watch the odd game now and then, but from what I hear he is a lot better fit for college ball than pro ball due to size and weight parameters (No puns intended), so he may not be that great a catch for the pro team that gets him.  As also noted by commentators, it's likely the Commish will lean on someone to take him just to forestall any bad press.  I'm sure there will be lots of whining and probably a lawsuit about bullying and homophobia after he gets to whatever team does take him.  It'll probably sell a lot of football tickets to fags, though.

Outside of a few teams that are more into marketing then winning he is a damn if you do,damn if you don`t prospect.
Few will want a middle round quality rookie to be a media attraction yet,as said above,if a team is in need for a possible lineman or linebacker and they pass on him accusations will fly.

I believe he was the SEC co-defensive player of the year, but is kind of undersized for the NFL.  From the projections I've overheard, he would have been just a run-of-the-mill middle round draft pick.

Also heard that Moochelle made some statement supporting him today.  Some at ESPN & other places are comparing him to Jackie Robinson.  :whatever:

Here is a representative sampling of the current Superbowl champion Seattle Seahawks.


And this is ONLY a sampling. Of the 53-man active roster for the Seahawks, 21 were drafted after the 4th round or not at all.  Every coach and front office in the league is under pressure to try to emulate the success the Seattle franchise has had with players the other 31 teams turned their noses up at, as dross.

On the other end of the scale, we have this - alleged - poofter and the mediocre kicker that was let go last year holding the threat of "discriminates against gays"  :o labels over the heads of the entire league if the NFL doesn't draft him, draft him far earlier than his skills and performance on the field would warrant and ignore the fact that he's getting a hard-on bigger than Jerry Sandusky's in the damn locker room.

Add to this the fact that most of the kids that get drafted DO NOT wind up playing pro ball beyond that first preseason. So, if the Commish leans on somebody to burn a draft pick on Princess Poopypants, is that team on an express trip for a discrimination lawsuit when Sweet Cheeks' performance proves sub-par and he gets his ass cut from the team? Or, will the Commish then lean on the League refs to "go easy" on the rump ranger, in order to provide an unfair "field leveling" advantage to the team saddled with the poofter?

My how the slope gets slippery quickly when one gets engaged in the practice of identity politics...

I used the term alleged, solely because all we have is his word that this is his preference.  I have no doubt that there are those out there who are not above claiming the ghey card just to attempt to win a preferential treatment they wouldn't otherwise receive. He may be one, and he may not.

This should prove to be interesting. When the drift comes around everyone may that someone else will pick him and by the time they realize no one is going to do it some coach will get a call from Roger Goodell informing him to draft the guy. Because of all the "I thought someone else would do it" attitudes the guy goes late and then then liberal/democratic crap starts up about the NFL being homophobic. Then if they guys just sucks horribly (pardon the pun) will the team that drafts him have the cajones to release him? If they do they'll be accused do doing so because he was gay and not giving him a chance. If the other teams don't pick up him up he sues for discrimination.

At any rate, I see nothing good coming from this unless the guy is just a star right out of the gate then no team will care if he is gay. All the NFL teams care about is winning

Why would whether he was gay matter? Wouldn't it be based on how good of a player he is? Not choosing a great player because they're gay is as stupid as choosing a just mediocre play just because he is gay.
