Hijacking threads

It's probably happened to you. You put together an OP, and then one or two people almost immediately change the topic.
 
I've often started to read a thread that looks interesting, only to have a couple of DUers go off on a tangent. They are soon joined by others, and the original theme of the thread virtually disappears. I usually stop reading the thread and go elsewhere, which, in effect, turns the original poster into a victim.
 
It happened to me yesterday and I jumped in asking the hijackers to stop. I got a curt "No" in reply. Sigh.
 
There's really not much that can be done about it, but it really sucks. If only hijackers would realize they're own rudeness.
 
What do you do when it happens to you?

(I suspect that some thread hijackers may shortly jump into this thread out of pure dickishness.)

Lots of primitive comments, but the very first one shows where the discussion goes.

6 large eggs, beaten

1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust, fitted to a 9-inch glass pie plate

Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Combine the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Layer the spinach, bacon, and cheese in the bottom of the pie crust, then pour the egg mixture on top. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the egg mixture is set. Cut into 8 wedges.

There is a grim atmosphere at the DUmp this morning...the news has been awful and the lame spin attempts seem to have worn them down.

Yes that happened on his "hatred is unhealthy" thread.  Bryant immediately went off into a hate-the-rich tangent.  Cryano must have been stewing on that all night long. 

Still, I thought the quiche recipe was funny.  Pittstain also tried to be funny, but it was a stale joke by then.  Fail.  You have to be quick to be a wit.

They have the ability to self-delete their OP which kills the thread. They can C&P their original OP and start all over. How hard can this be to figure out?

I know you were asking that rhetorically, USA4ME.  But just the fact that some DUmmy recently ruined not one but two pans and a spatula attempting to make a simple grilled cheese sandwich illustrates thieir complete lack of common sense.

Agree 100%.  I'm kinda surprised that the 'grilled cheese sandwich' didn't turn out as a 'chilled grease sandwich,' myself.
