Kalifornia is Drying Out

This is a great article on the water problems being experienced in Kalifornia.  Be sure to also read the comments as some are better than the article.

Don’t Blame Climate Change
for the California Drought

The president should take a look at the science.

By Charles C. W. Cooke

Of all the media-savvy decisions that our friends in the alarmists’ camp have made in recent years, the finest was to change their branding. “Global warming” is a clear hypothesis, subject to investigation and to criticism; “Global cooling,” likewise. But “climate change”? Now that is beautifully and efficaciously ambiguous — less an ironclad prediction and more an ersatz Rorschach test onto which anything and everything can be projected.

Taking firm advantage of the term’s cloudy meaning, Obama’s chief of staff, Denis McDonough, announced on Face the Nation this weekend that he was vexed by a “very chilling story in the New York Times today about the impact of climate change on droughts in the West – California, which is now seeing some pretty serious developments as a result of climate change.” “So,” McDonough concluded, “we’ll be looking at that.”
{snip}

Again, make sure to read the comments some are spot on.

Well, owebuma did say he would cause the waters to recede. One campaign promise kept.

And when he leaves he will return to the pulpit of Al Ron Gore to preach the gospel.

BTW the similarities between AlRon Gore and ElRon Hubbard interesting.  Both are widely read science fiction writers who founded religions.

I just read another article on Yahoo and again the comments section are full of independent thinking Gorebull warming heretics.

Stop watering the grass and empty all the swimming pools of the movie stars and other rich liberals in Kommiefornia...problem solved and I can keep the lights and heat on.

I realize my suggestion is conceptually simplistic, but:  WHY don't we just load up the snow from the midwest, put it in big ol' trucks, and take it CA?

The local super-mart near by house has at last 3 dozen piles of snow over 15' tall, EACH.  The need water - we have literally tons and tons of snow that will melt, potentially causing severe flooding.

why can't someone just move what is needed from where it ISN'T needed, to where it is?

All we have to do is wait for a little more glow bull warming, and a glacier will form over the state of California. That should fill their reservoirs.

Northern CA is in the "pineapple express" lane right now.  They will get a lot of rain out of that.

Some of our heaviest rains and floods have come from that pattern.

Quote
Sometimes known as "the Pineapple Express," these rivers of rain are long, narrow bands of highly-concentrated moisture that are formed in the Pacific Ocean and barrel eastward until they hit land, bringing downpours and flooding.

When they hit California, they pack an amazing punch. Just one can carry 15 times as much water as the Mississippi River.

I'm no expert, but I'd think it's a question of a thing called logistics and economics. It costs too much to ship water from point A to point B. Even though point A has too much of it.

Is this mandatory?  I'm not sure I'm going to be here long enough to care if anyone "gets to know me."

I don't know - yet.  My experience is that ANY consistently different opinion is eventually treated as 'trolling' and I am banned -- no matter the content of my specific words, or the comparative quality of my posts, to those who are actually trolls.

For example... I asked a sincere question:  Is this mandatory.... and look at your rather defensive response....yeah...  :thatsright:

Already seeing a pattern to which the logical outcome is "banned."

So, I will ask you AGAIN:  Is it mandatory to "introduce myself"??

No, not mandatory but friendly folks usually do.

....and it's usually the liberal types that bust right in and want to be the center of attention.

So, tell us what you believe.

So, tell us what you believe.

I believe that If I was a liberal, I could lie quite effectively about my intentions, play the role of a 'friendly person' with extreme competence, and you wouldn't know the difference.   :naughty:

I believe that 'being friendly' is an oxymoron, because the ability to be a true friend is character driven, not socially or intellectually.

And, I believe that if I'm not either required  to "introduce" myself, i will let you make your own decisions about how "friendly" i am -- based on this Scripture passage:  As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.  Proverbs 27:16-18

If I sharpen your intellect, it will be through contrast and challenging you to think differently.  I don't think like anyone else you've ever met (not a boast -- as you will eventually see) And I believe  that whether you see that as "friendly" depends on whether you value the content of what I say, and whether you trust the my claim about what I am doing.

I am here, for a season.  How long a season, I don't yet know... My singular goal is to practice thinking, and like an boxer, I can beat the air (think my thoughts all by myself) and that will equip me with certain skills, but working against another person equips me with others skills.

I have told you why I am here, and what I will do.   Ibelieve you will choose to interpret that however you want, and whether you define that as "friendly" or not is beyond my control. :whatever:

I know *I* AM "friendly" --  I cannot control whether you perceive me as "friendly."  Read my responses, draw your own conclusions.  If you enjoy thought-provoking discussion, I will challenge you.

If you think a person is "friendly" only when they agree with everything you say, you will hate me with a deep and profound loathing.

Won't that be fun!

as I previously stated: my experience is that ANY consistently different opinion is eventually treated as 'trolling' and I am banned.

so, I must logically conclude:  whether I am considered "friendly" or not will be determined by how easily annoyed a person is when I don't agree with them.

Which also happens to be the degree to which I am perceived "trollish". So -- you do the math.

Differing opinions are okay, but be prepared to defend those opinions.

Being rude, obnoxious and calling names isn't.

People just are curious whether you are coming from a liberal, conservative or libertarian point of view.

Sometimes i call a person a doofus  -- but only when s/he is being a doofus.

The "point of view" from which my thoughts emanate is... different.  Pretty much completely.

No, it's not mandatory AFAIK. It's just good manners.

Do whatever you're going to do. Something tells me you won't be around long enough for it to matter much.

Aren't a lot of California's problems of their own creation?
