Public Transportation Anyone ?
« on: January 26, 2014, 03:50:06 PM »
Tuesday January 21st Philadelphia received over 13 inches of Globull Warming.

The storm had been forecast for a couple of days yet public transportation seemed caught off guard. The city government shut down around noon as did most businesses. This meant tens of thousands of people were trying to get home early.

Did SEPTA (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) anticipate this and add more vehicles ? Uh nope.

Poor planning ? Well it looks like union rules prevent flexibility of management.

Quote
SEPTA deputy general manager Jeffrey Knueppel says shifting operations quickly is logistically difficult.

“The federal government places requirements on how many hours and when our crews can work. And if we had moved them into normally our break periods, we wouldn’t have had them for late at night, then other people would have been stranded.”

Well......... :censored:

Septa, sounds like a disease.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Indeed.  Or a pill for the mentally ill.

One would have to be nuts to take public transportation in my state.  The trains are frequented by those that think murder, rape, and pillage is the cool thing to do.
I've known some pathological liars in my time, but 0 takes the prize.
