Victim wants rapist's parental rights restricted

LINCOLN — She made an agonizing decision two years ago to give birth to a child who was conceived during a rape.
Today, the 20-year-old Norfolk, Neb., woman has a beautiful toddler, but a different sort of agony. Recently a judge granted child visitation rights to the man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting her.
“Most victims of rape choose to abort their babies,†she said. “Those of us who choose to keep our child have to face the overwhelming fear of being bullied and being controlled by the rapist.â€
The woman testified last week in support of proposed legislation that would make it more difficult for sex offenders to claim parental rights to children conceived in a sexual assault.
FULL story at link.
Pro lifers better support the mom on this.*
*the big guy's just being silly here; of course those who respect life support this.
Anyway, so the big guy--who posted and ran, as usual, not hanging around to get engaged with primitives commenting on it--got the primitives all hot and upset, that Nebraska "allows" a rapist parental rights.
The woman had the child, and at some point applied for social services benefits for it.
She had to identify the father of the child, after which the Nebraska Department of Social Services, not she, went after him for child support.
Which he apparently paid, or agreed to pay, $450 per month.
Having agreed to that, the rapist-father sued to get some rights to the child.
The judge gave him one-half hour every two weeks, in a social services office and under professional supervision; such was arranged in a manner so that the mother wouldn't have to meet the rapist-father face-to-face.
And that's where it currently stands, while most in this part of Nebraska (it's taking place not far from me) think a rapist should have no parental rights at all, and are working to make that the law.
The big guy in Bellevue left a lot out of this story, and got the primitives all hysterical and bent out of shape, thinking Nebraska allows rapist-fathers to have rights to their children.
