It was left scattered about in the room she had been staying in. One of the women that had been helping to hide them gathered it up and saved it, giving it to her father when he returned.
Just goes to show how story's are altered as time goes by.
Now I was wanting to see some information on this child when I visited the Holocaust Museum in DC. If there was any I never saw it due to my tears and darn near passing out from what I did see. Hubby had to drag me out and I just collapsed like a bag of potatoes on the side walk and the saying NEVER AGAIN ringing in my ears.
Few in life come across true evil, difficult to wrap ones mind around the fact that Monsters do exist in real time not just in the books or movies.
Then the thought that all humans can be in some way, some how justify their atrocious actions and that leads to introspection of the worse kind. Would I put my family and children at risk of death to help a stranger ??
So the Story I was told was much different from yours. I was led to believe the intire family and the members of the home that hid them were all caught and sent to the death camps. Seems the Nazi storm troopers were harder on those Christians that hid the Jews then the Jews themselves. Or perhaps not, better to be shot dead in the street then to board those rail cars.
I hate to say it but something is odd about the whole story, Ann did exist, records of her internment are there in the documents, but did she actually die in the camps ? I can't help but remember the tattoo's on the wrists of people who had children a few years older then myself, they had to have been born in the camps so how did their parents get out with a baby 2 or 3 years before the end of the war ?????
Silly me, I question all things, seldom get to the truth, but, it does no harm to think outside the box.
