So, if the Lounge has been renamed for MFM, can LBN be named after Khephra?
The man is legend on DU. I have only seen Skinner post a "tribute" to one DUer:

<<<always thought it odd, how my fellow alum honored Khephra, but remained mum on the late red round one, and more so on Chief S itting Bull, the Greatest Primitive Ever.

1. Seconded!
I miss Khephra...

2. I do too.
Like Skinner wrote, "he WAS LBN."
I learned about 911 from him: "Turn on your TV NOW!" he was amazing. We had some great late night chats in an old chat room-

3. Apparently the lounge renaming is only temporary
For only one to a few days (I'm not exactly sure), just something to clarify.

4. LBN used to be a MACHINE when Kephra was putting up the news.
He was so good at choosing stories, he should have been paid!
I liked his little avatar and his sig pic. You always knew you were getting quality when you saw that.

5. I was a moderator then
He got as many locked as people do now. He was great, but not infallible.
JanMichael (21,535 posts) Fri Jan 17, 2014, 08:27 AM
8. Of course he did
Frankly, I had MFM on ignore.
No DUer is "infallible."
May I remind you that one of "DU's Greats" has posted at least 4 times over the past decade "I am leaving."
Another DU Lounge Great is banned.*
*must be in reference to the Taverner primitive; I have no idea who the beforementioned primitive is, or was.

6. a lot of amazing DUers have passed
Many have shaped and help build this place. Kephra is among them.
Two others who I loved personally were Dookus/Monkeyfunk and OldLefyLawyer (?... Annette).

9. also, Redstone and Khashka. and Tucker/AlienGirl and the woman with the cowboot in her sigline
I hate that her name escapes me now because I really liked her and iirc she fought a hard battle, too.

19. That was Longhorn.
^^^a semi-prominent Andyite during the Scamdal nine years ago; a neighbor of Fat Che's until Fat Che had to move because his house was foreclosed; an associate of the hypochondrial primitive "mopinko" and has met the globe-trotting Skippy, the "NYC_SKP" primitive.

13. Tangerine LaBamba was another.
The fact that she was TSed was.......well, never mind. Too early for negative bullshit.

7. I didn't know him - [in reference to the squalid fat greasy Khephra primitive]
but that is a lovely tribute.

I definitely would support that move.
Miss you, Kheph

25. I got credit for forwarding interesting articles, but they were nearly all from Kephra.
He was totally awesome and the quality of his postings really helped build Democratic Underground and its credibility.*
I totally miss him and could hardly believe it when we lost him.

He was so awesome. i still miss him and a few others as well. We've lost a lot of good ones.

28. We have
It's odd how many people on DU are gone now, and how often I think about folks I never knew in "real life."
Do you remember "Playahata1?" All we knew about her was that her name was Robin, and she was an English prof. at a Florida university- and then we ran into one of her coworkers in the department at a gas station in a small town in Illinois. He filled us in (Cancer, how old she was, how much everyone liked her) on details we could never have known. Amazing.
JNelson6563 (25,613 posts) Fri Jan 17, 2014, 11:25 AM
30. Wow! Talk about a "small world" moment, eh?
I do remember the screen name now that you mention it. Yes, we've lost so many.

29. I think this is a great idea!
^^^me too, but as suggested by someone here (Chris_, I think), my fellow alum Skins should put up for bid or sale the naming rights to a forum. He could even have a fund-raising contest among the primitives.
Say, for example, some primitives want it named for the late Khephra, while other primitives want it named for the still-living kpete primitive; they all could make donations in the name of one or the other, and the name garnering the most dough gets attached to the forum.
