It's an interpretation of a law. It's not constitutionally protected. The next court, with the right case could rule abortion illegal just like that. Not so easily done with an Amendment.

For an amendment to be legally changed it takes another amendment. Prohibition for example. Luckily for us our founders made it difficult to change the constitution.

You'd have to **** a man for that to happen, and I don't see that in your future.

I'm sure many DUmmy men would love to share a bed with her, but they aren't actually men.

Here's my issue:  When you decide your constitutional 2nd amendment right trumps the rest of the constitution including my right to life, I have a problem with that.

The right to keep and bear arms is directly derivative from the natural right to life, the natural right of self-defense of life and property, and the civil right to resist and abolish a tyranny. It neither conflicts nor "trumps" the rest of the Constitution.

In other words, your right to life does not trump my right to life, nor my other rights- they are exactly equal.

You may not expect the state to proactively abridge my actual liberty based on your fear of a possible violation of your rights. If I actually threaten your right to life, you have the natural right of self-defense.

Quote
My issue is that cities are very different from rural areas and we should be able to determine our own gun policies.

"Policies"  are subordinate to rights.

Your city government may not abridge the rights of individual citizens, no matter how much you want it to.

Actually I am.  I'm going to make a pot roast.  I'm quite a good cook, in fact.

That answers my question about your sex.

Pot roast, eh?

If I lived closer, I'd invite myself to supper.

Amazing--she doesn't seem to be able to take the hint.

Memo to you, :jugs:  :yahoo: : You've pretty much lost what little credibility you had by pissing and moaning about us on DU, then coming back here.

I'd like to add that our rights come from God. We are born with those rights. Not by the benevolence of some politician.

Same here. Every Saturday.

Does my heart good to see all of these women coming into the range for lessons. Easier to teach than men.

I never realized how many women come to a range unaccompanied just to shoot.

The emotional trope is a constant refrain for anyone who considers the importance of human lives and not simply the the precious guns.

Liberal, you are no one to ever preach about "the importance of human lives".

Quote
It's unfounded and itself emotional in that it doesn't deal with any of the concerns I raised having to do with criminals' access to guns, protected by the NRA and the Republican Party.

What you advocate will not achieve what you say.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

Same here. Every Saturday.

I teach one class a month, except for January and July, when we have a four week "women's only" course. I teach Basic Pistol (week 1) and KS Concealed Carry (week 4), and my friend Scott teaches Personal Protection Inside the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home.

Seems like I have a lot of homework before I can begin to learn about that.

Here's a little exercise for you. It involves Aristotelian logic, if you're up for it:

Take your sentence, "Or I could spend more time around people who aren't freaked out by feminism and women's rights." and change the two highlighted words to, "Or I could spend more time around people who aren't freaked out by masculism and men's rights."

If the second statement is sexist, then the first is sexist.

Tucker, if I guess will you tell me?  We know nothing can come of it.  Perhaps by private message here?  I have a guess.
Or could you answer one question:  are you known as a pro-2A person on DU?  Or do you keep that kind of quiet?

Oh, that one.  It's a false equivalency.  Women are a subaltern group, historically disenfranchised.  We are still not yet to an equal playing field with men, though clearly we have come a very long way.  There are all kinds of issues that affect women, which is why feminism and women's rights are still important today.  It's like comparing the Civil Rights movement to the Klan.  They are not comparable.  One seeks to lift a group up to equality, the other seeks to keep a minority group down.

Oh, that one. Save that bullshit for the DUmp.

It's a simple argument: If it's wrong to say/do it about A, it's wrong to say/do it about B. You don't get a pass because you call yourself "disenfranchised".

It's not "like comparing the Civil Rights movement to the Klan"; it's like comparing the Black Panthers to the Klan.

Why is it the most virulent feminists are the least feminine? Certainly not lady like either.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

From one woman to another...geez. :thatsright: :thatsright:

Ditto.   I am a woman and the mother of young women and I am having a really tough time trying to understand what in the world "feminists" have so much to gripe about.  What is it you want to do that you are not already doing?  Yes, many years ago, females WERE discriminated against.  Women couldn't vote...that was rectified.   At one time, females couldn't own land.  That is not true now.

You wanted legalized abortion...you got it...and I will tell you that as a woman, nothing is more abhorrent to me that murdering an innocent unborn child.  I HATE it.  But "feminists" wanted it and they got it.  No one is keeping you down, but yourself.  Ditch the  hate, be the woman God intended you to be and you just might find out how wonderful it is to be a woman.  :hammer:
