BainesBane...you don't really have a life, do you?

None.  That's why I don't get the fascination with me.  I am truly a very boring person.

You don't need to worry.  You could tell me your name right here and it wouldn't matter.  Skinner would never PPR someone based on what is said here because he could never trust it.  And my knowing who a mole is means exactly nothing.

The emotional trope is a constant refrain for anyone who considers the importance of human lives and not simply the the precious guns.  It's unfounded and itself emotional in that it doesn't deal with any of the concerns I raised having to do with criminals' access to guns, protected by the NRA and the Republican Party.

Actually if you listened to what gun owners say, we say there are plenty of laws on the books let's enforce what we have instead of passing a bunch of new laws that punishes gun owners. No law is going to keep a criminal from obtaining a gun. Criminals by definition do not follow laws. A criminal does not see a "gun free zone" sign then say, oh well and go get a hamburger instead.

Yet you have no interest in "not earning it".

A good deal of your criticism has to do with the fact that theres more humility in a cat litter box than anyone can find you expressing.

Oh but madam, I don't discount the value of human lives; in fact, I obviously place a higher value on life than many of your cohorts on Skins's island.

There's many more things that present threats to life than guns.

In this county up here on the roof of Nebraska, I'm probably the only adult male who doesn't own or use firearms, and probably more than half of the femmes own or use firearms, too.  If I were to guess--well, I guess I am guessing--there's probably four firearms per firearm-owner here, on the average.

We have crime here, but it's remarkable that the use of a firearm in commission of a crime around here is so rare as to be negligible.  I think one person was shot (but lived) circa 1955 or 1956, and the last murder by firearm was w-a-a-a-a-a-y back in 1921.

There's many more things that present threats to life than guns; perhaps it'd be a good idea to examine those other things.

Oh, Rinos like Ronald Reagan.  Gotcha.

Reagan wasn't perfect. However interesting that you brought that up, when amnesty was given did it solve the problem? No it didn't so here we are 20 some years later about to try the same failed policy from back then.

I fully realize that. That's why I gave you some personal information. Skimmer won't touch any secondhand accusation from anyone but a select few.

I discovered that when I was a moderator on DU ll.

You'd be surprised what people PM you in order to get someone banned.

Let me clarify.  I would not vote for the Republican party in its current manifestation.  I do vote on principal, which is why I cannot vote for them.  It's not about party ID or tribal identity.  It is because I am so firmly opposed to what the modern Republican Party stands for.

Well then you would do well to not speak in platitudes like that. You are aware that doing so is overemotional rhetoric not suitable for debate. Now, don't get me wrong, I claim no higher ground since as a fellow human being I too can be guilty be guilty of being over-sensitive on a hot topic too. As a woman, I'm certain too you would not want to advance the stereotype associated with women of being overemotional and not capable of rational discussion.

That said, I would not say I wouldn't vote for someone of another party. I say that because I decide on a case by case basis with regards to both the person standing before me asking for my vote and their character as far as I can ascertain it from what I can find about them AND whether they stand for something I can in good conscience get behind. Generally, I vote based on who holds closest to our US Constitution. With the 2nd Amend. for example, whether I'd personally own guns or not, i would stand for someone pro-2nd amendment because I understand the logic in our Constitution behind what is in it and whole-heatedly agree and understand why the various rights were AFFIRMED(notice I didn't say given--they were AFFIRMED as rights we already have). Should a democrat be more Constitutionally sound then another party, then I would have to consider giving that person my vote if their character reflects one of ethics and morality.

I will try to reply to you too, but I'm going to be running about preparing for the week for my family and work soon so I apologize if I do am not able to respond in a timely manner.

There are many, many restrictions on abortions and very few on guns.  Abortion rights have been systematically eroded over the past twenty years while gun rights have been expanded.  If a woman's body were a gun, she's have far more rights.

I don't see a right to murder your child in the Bill of Rights. Just so you know, abortion is NOT a constitutionally protected right.

It's right next to the wealth redistribution clause.

That was my position before W.  He changed everything.  I used to vote third party for President.  I think I voted for Dave Durenberger for Senator at one point.  I voted for Nader in 2000--in Florida, in Palm Beach county, on the butterfly ballot.  Massive regret.  I vote straight Democrat now.  The fact the GOP has gone off the deep end means there is no choice anyway.

The Supreme Court disagrees.  It is the protected law of this land.
I however, have murdered no child.  Nor have I ever had an abortion.

Slavery was once the law of the land, so just because something is law of the land doesn't make it right. Hell we have plenty of immigration laws that get ignored.

It's an interpretation of a law. It's not constitutionally protected. The next court, with the right case could rule abortion illegal just like that. Not so easily done with an Amendment.
