Surprise! Walmart health plan is cheaper, offers more coverage than Obamacare

http://washingtonexaminer.com/surprise-walmart-health-plan-is-cheaper-offers-more-coverage-than-obamacare/article/2541670

Quote
New Obamacare health insurance enrollees may feel a pang of envy when they eye the coverage plans offered by Walmart to its employees.

For many years, the giant discount retailer has been the target of unions and liberal activists who have harshly criticized the company's health care plans, calling them “notorious for failing to provide health benefits” and "substandard.”

But a Washington Examiner comparison of the two health insurance programs found that Walmart's plan is more affordable and provides significantly better access to high-quality medical care than Obamacare.

Quote
A Journal of the American Medical Association analysis from September showed that unsubsidized Obamacare enrollees will face monthly premiums that are five to nine times higher than Walmart premiums.

JAMA found the unsubsidized premium for a nonsmoking gouple age 60 can cost $1,365 per month versus the Walmart cost of about $134 for the same couple.

The medical journal reported a 30-year-old smoker would pay up to $428 per month, in contrast to roughly $70 each month for a Walmart employee.

A family of four could pay a $962 premium, but the same Walmart family member would pay about $160.

Yes, it's quite a disappointment to folks in my company when they realize the insurance we provide, that has not increased in cost to employee in 2 years is cheaper and better than obamacare.

Premium comparisons are meaningless.

My car cost nearly $50K. I could have bought one for $10K. Did I get a bad deal?

Walmart is racist for showing up our black president.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The problem is the government took away our cars that cost $10k and are making us buy smart cars for $50k. So no premium comparisons are not meaningless.

Slight correction...they are making us pat 50k for cars that are worth 10k.

Well, the government and Wal Mart have one thing in common.... their employees treat those whom they serve with the exact same level of contempt.

I object: I shop frequently at Walmart, and I have NEVER been treated with as much disdain and contempt there as I am in my son's school(s), the Post Office or the DMV.  Hell, even the county Health Department office (where I had to go in order to get the immunization exemption paperwork to submit to my son's school) treated me far worse than Walmart ever has...

Every WalMart employee I've encountered has been friendly and helpful.

Sometimes their personal appearance is a little dodgy, but I've never had bad service.

Sounds like someone is buying into DUmp talking points.

Depends on the Wal Mart, we have several here and each one is different. It all depends on how many Obama supporters are behind the counters.

I've posted before that at the local Walmarts near where I live I find the associates to be mostly slothful and uncommunicative.  Their level of service is atrocious.

I'd say about 3 months ago I stopped by because it's on the way to my office and asked some slug working there where something was, he was adjusting something on a shelf.  Never turned around, just nodded in a direction to the right and grunted something incoherent.  When I asked him again, he still didn't turn around, and grunted more loudly but no less coherently.

I ended up giving up and wandering around looking for it myself.  This is but one incident in a litany of bad experiences there.

You should try the one in Laredo, TX.  Not a single employee spoke English.  Not even as a second language.

I think that it's pretty much a crap shoot when you are discussing customer service, and you can't just lump Walmart into that.  I have had good/bad experiences at Walmart to Whole Foods.  People are people, and no company is hiring all employees with the same mindset.

I rarely ask for help from people on the floor, so it doesn't bother me much at Walmart or stores like that.  Most of the time I only have to deal with the cashier, and for the most part they are friendly.

However, when I have to go to Lowe's, Menard's or other hardware store, I don't care if the people are friendly as long as they know the department they are working in.

Agreed.  Even a normally polite person can have a bad day.  No matter how diligently a company tries to screen prospective employees, one will sneak through that ultimately causes a problem.

My statement about the Laredo Wal-Mart wasn't against Wal-Mart in general, but more of the state of Texas and the illegal problem.

Same here.  I'm a big fan of Wal-Mart.  I refuse to pay Sears prices for the same thing, often much cheaper, at Wal-Mart.  I couldn't care less what some of the shoppers look like or the employees, for that matter.

Only when I'm not sure where they have the item I am looking for, shelved at.  I don't go to HI stores or Wal-Mart to be sold on anything.  I already know what I want.  Just point me to it, if need be, to see if it is what I want.

Besides, I always wander around and check out HI materials.  Always.

My sister worked at K-Mart for years. Low pay, hardly any hours and no insurance.  When WalMart moved in K-Mart became a ghost town and she got a job at WalMart.  Higher pay, more hours and half decent insurance.  Why doesn't the left ever rip on K-Mart?

I think it may have something to do with tearing down success rooted in capitalism.
