Oh my.

The primitives still won't let go.

Their man Alphonse Capote Gore tried to steal Florida, and failed.  Case closed.

Justice Antonin Scalia: Al Gore to blame for 2000 US election mess

The 2000 presidential election debacle was the fault of Al Gore, who should have followed Richard Nixon's 1960 example and conceded without legal action, according to the Supreme Court's leading conservative 'judge.' The 2000 election (coup d'etat), in which Mr Bush eventually prevailed in pivotal Florida by just 537 votes (was selected), remains a potent source of discontent for Democrats. Last month, Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said that the election had been stolen by "five intellectually bankrupt judges".

Found at Citizens For Legitimate Government. Here is a comment posted by the editor on that website:

In the *first* place, someone should tell this sociopath that the case is actually Bush v. Gore - *Bush* filed the legal action. Eight days earlier, the United States Supreme Court had decided the case of Bush v. Palm Beach County Canvassing Board. Again, the legal action was instigated by *Bush.* Moreover, George W. Bush had a fleet of lawyers poised to overturn the 2000 election if Al Gore had won the electoral vote but lost the popular vote - a fact the mainstream media whores buried. In the second place, the only fault of Gore was that he didn't call for the second American Revolution to overthrow the occupiers after the *first* coup d'etat. If Bush was prevented from stealing the presidency in 2000, the 9/11 attacks, Iraq invasion, countless war crimes and millions of environmental acts of terror would never have happened.

I dunno.

If the above's the comment of the editor of that web-site, one suspects the web-site's prejudiced.

1. This guy does not belong on the Supreme Court.

****ing partisan asshole. Certainly NOT a legal scholar, judging by his decisions. But then neither are Alito, Roberts or Thomas (especially him).

18. Doubt it.

Sex with an intern is the only impeachable offense.

Hmmm.  Since when was sex with an intern an impeachable offense?

13. Obviously this man should be removed from the bench immediately.

He has no concept of what the *FACTS* are, which means he's unfit to make decisions.

Blame it on Gore...yet Bush was the one who filed the law suits first.

Not only is this type of comment inappropriate coming from a Supreme Court Justice, it shows he's partisan in his decisions, which makes him unfit to remain on the bench.

All this of course ignoring the fact that the Supreme Court had no business sticking its nose in what was a state issue in the first place.

Scalia is a great example of why the United States is so f*cked up right now!

20. Not a very impartial, even-handed jurist, is he

He should confine his assessment to the facts before him, not assign blame to either side for exercising their rights to seek legal recourse. It's evident that his mind was made up before he ever heard the case, and that it was based upon political concerns, not the law.

One wonders if the primitives of the mid-1870s took so long to get over Hayes-Tilden.

What a dimwit!

What Scalia was refering to was that Gore is the one who started the court battles by insisting that the State of Florida not certify its votes, not just the Supreme Court case.  If Gore had allowed Florida to certify its votes, then his legal standing would have been stronger.  As it was, he stopped that in favor of wanting to count on certain votes from certain counties.  That's to what Scalia is referring.

Case names at the Supreme Court don't actually tell you anything about who started what, originally.  All the order really means is that the first guy is appealling whatever the result was at the next lower court that heard it.

It's an interesting thing. No matter how much time goes by they will never get over the fact that Al Gore lost the 2000 election and that it a fact that cannot be changed. Even if we get a Dem president they will still be bitching and moaning over this. It's so predictable that it's easy to guess what they're going to say before they even say it!

The legislature in Florida had clearly laid down election law.
The state Supreme court was attempting to usurp that to give the election to Gore.

The US Supreme court three times slapped that rogue court down with the last being the 5-4 ruling.
The other two were by 7-2 margins if memory serves me.

I hope you DUmmies seethe over it forever. :-)
