According to the newspapers, the winter of 1983-1984 was really really bad.

I was living in Lincoln at the time; I don't recall anything in particular about it.

Now, your part of the state, the western third, traditionally has been colder than the eastern third of the state.  But it's all weird now; if you check temperatures, the eastern third of Nebraska's been colder, sometimes much colder, than your part (although you guys have had a lot more snow).
