Nashua lawmaker issues apology about driving over ducks

Quote
NASHUA — State Rep. David Campbell, D-Nashua, has issued an apology for running over several ducks with his vehicle last week outside a local hotel.

City police are still investigating the incident, which Campbell has described as an accident.

"I am deeply sorry that I accidentally ran over several wild ducks near the Crowne Plaza last Monday night" Campbell said in a statement. "This occurred while some people were feeding the ducks in the roadway nearby. I know it greatly upset them, as it did me. In spite of the accusations to the contrary, this was accidental, unintentional and deeply affected me then and now."

According to Campbell's statement, after he hit the ducks with his vehicle, Campbell said he immediately got out of his car and apologized.

This story has been in the paper for a couple days up here.  This guy's version of events differs greatly from eyewitnesses, who say he mowed over a group of about a dozen ducks with his beamer as he was going to park and then when confronted by witnesses allegedly said "the ducks wouldn't move".

What a first rate asshole....How hard is it to get out of your car and shoo them out of the way, or park somewhere else?

This hotel is about a half mile from my office.  They have a pond out front, and about 2 or three yellow and black signs up around the property with a mother duck and a row of ducklings behind it, obviously the intent being "watch for ducks"--many of them reside in the pond and its been that way for years, and everyone in Nashua knows about them, so its not like these little guys just flapped in out of nowhere and surprised him.

I seem to believe that his troubles could get a lot worse if the Federal Migratory Game Bird Act (or something like that on the Federal level) were to be invoked . . . :o
