Reminds me of the "space age" motels across the street from Disney Land.    :hammer:

Its not my fault. Some one posted a Disney vacation thread in this very forum and lit a fuse under me.
I had to do it too.

I went to Dis Boards http://www.wdwinfo.com/chat.htm  because I saw that forum in the previous thread.
Its a real help to planning things...but its members are Disney nuts who all seem to have annual passes.
Right now on Dec 14th, it is 80 degrees. 68 was the low.

I'm about 5 years too early. Avatar Land is being built right now in Disney's Animal Kingdom park.
and Star Wars Land is going to open around that time in Disney Hollywood Studios park.

anyways I'm staying in a "budget" Disney Hotel, for $118 bucks a night. I could have gotten another hotel in Orlando for like $60 a night, but car rental and $15 bucks a day parking at the parks evens it all out. With Disney, transportation is free. There are fancier hotels...but why? I'm only gonna be sleeping there.
--So bottom line: Disney gets 100% of my vacation dollar: food, lodging, and fun.

Oh yes the hotel. Its theme is the last few cartoon blockbusters from Disney. I'm not in the Cars wing...no I reserved late, so I got the girly Little Mermaid room. Still, there is a 40 food statue of the Little Mermaid. I wanted a boobs level room (the "shells suite." I can't afford that), but I'm in the head. I have to open her eyes if I want to look out. I wonder if I can dump garbage out her nose...

The package just for me was $1200. Not bad. I'm going solo so it should be a real easy pace. I hate to say, I have bigger plans to eat very well over there, I got the Disney dining plan and I get a free restaurant dinner and a quick service meal every day. And one snack a day is free too.
--I will eat like a king!

There is some weird service where you can get your picture taken with an animated character, like a teeny tiny Tinkerbell perched in your hand. If I can get them to let pose like I'm about to swat her with a rolled up newspaper, I'll post it here.

May I recommend the "It's a Small World" ride?

I hate that ride. I have no idea why it hasn't been torn down. No need to duck. Its the only ride you will find with no lines on a busy day. The only reason I would go would be to make out with a hot date, but I'm 55 and the super models are a bit scarce these days.

anyhow I'm making nefarious plans to eat well, and spontaneously where ever I find myself in Disney. My dining plan accepts reservations 6 months in advance...I don't want to be a slave to a reservation.
--so i've given up on the fancy best know places and i'm going out of my way to hit the lesser known restaurants. I just might have a tablet by then and I'll post reviews of all the eateries I hit.

Heh, it's a big to do there if you ask for ketchup. Give it a shot.

Luckily they're not free, yet.
Otherwise they would be inundated with libs like you.

Libs rely on strong feelings, rather than fact. It's a big part of what makes a lib a lib.
This would of course apply to any libs visiting Disney attractions.
But as you indicated they're not free so not many libs go there.

Visiting Disney attractions is a basic human right.
And by "visiting" I mean free, naturally.

I'm just trying to step up my game.

You need to try a lil harder. So far you're failing miserably.

You would not like any of the Disney attractions. There's never any fighting there.

The Orlando Small World sucks donkey balls compared to ours in Anaheim.  It looks like something from a midway at a carnival rather than a Disney attraction. Same for their Pirates of the Caribbean in Orlando.

When my wife and I went to Disney World a few years back, we ended up spending most of our time at Epcot.  The GM Test Track is a blast and is the same technology that  our Radiator Springs Racers attraction is based upon.

If you like space technology, I recommend a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center as a nice break from the monotony of the parks.  We were fortunate enough to be there when a Shuttle launched and got a tour bus that picked us up in Orlando and drove us to the KSC and got us into a VIP area to view the launch.  That was the highlight of the trip for me.  We went back 2 days later and took the KSC Up-Close Cape Canaveral: Then And Now Tour which took us to several of the launch pads from Project Mercury and Gemini as well as pad 34 where the Apollo 1 fire occurred.

Either way,  have a good time and let your inner child rule the day

OK, got me a toy for the trip, a tablet. Its got wifi internet, reading apps like Kindle in it, and it can take pictures and video. Its a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab3. There is a Disney app where I can manage my Fast Pass, and dinner reservations, so it's going into the parks with me. I got a case for it, earphones and I'm going to wear a safari vest with huge pockets to keep it in (no backpacks or fanny packs for me!).

I'll bounce a few test photos off you guys before I go.

Just so ya know, I've never ever owned a cell phone. So this is all new to me. Y'all might be old pros at this, but I'm a caveman with all this new fangled stuff. Just opened the box, we'll see what happens. Probably needs charging up first.

I'll be damned if I ain't the last great holdout on cell phones. I hate the damned things, but they are handy for phone calls. All the rest of that bullshit they pack into those phones with the data plans and the rest of the expensive shit, those who worship at the altar of The Blackberry can keep it.

I have a regular cell phone... no touchpad, no internets.  Just phone calls (and texts).

I had a smartphone, but $75 a month just to stream some music/radio is a waste of money.

Was today the day for takeoff?  On Jan 6, Mr. Mannn said two weeks to go, so that would be Jan. 20.  I'm so excited for him, getting away from this awful winter.  We're about to have 15 below for a week.

You guys aren't the only holdouts with the cellphones.  I've got a dumb one that's very, very old, and very very cheap to maintain minutes.  Some people have $150 monthly bills or more, mine is $20/month.  I don't sit around texting stupid shit to people, though.

I have a weather app on my computer, I live an hour north of Disney....

If it helps..the app says:

Mon 1/26/2014   64 high 45 low and Partly cloudy
Tue 1/27/2014    69 high 47 low and partly cloudy
Wed 1/28/2014   68 high 39 low and clear

That's as far as it goes for now.

Have lots of fun while you're there.

Last two times I visited DW (FL), 1996 and 2006, there were lines to get into Small World.  Actually stood in one in '06 because I was with others who wanted to go.

I don't suppose they'll remove it as long as people will line up for it.  Or until they have something better to put in the slot.  As far as I know, 20,000 Leagues was the only popular ride to be removed and left barren for some time, and that was for (alleged) maintenance issues.  It had just been removed in '96, and was empty except for a "cast mamber" portraying the little mermaid sitting on (in) a "rock" in a "grotto" in '06.

20,000 leagues was one of my favorite rides at Disney. I remember looking at that Jules Verne novel when I was in grade school along with the Hardy Boys and others.
