The news conf. said he was 58.  Sounds kinda old for someone to get brainwashed by radical Islam.

 The first clue you have that this guy is an idiot is that he joined Islam and became a terrorists.  He wanted to make a bomb and put it in an Airport so he began asking around for bomb materials and suddenly there was someone who could help him. He should have smelled a rat immediately but he was too stupid to recognize it.
