Does one suppose they get paid for that sort of thing, much like people who "donate" blood plasma?

That's what I was thinking too.

Is this a good idea after her recent hit and run accident?  Wasn't she in the hospital for a concussion?

Amber doesn't give it away, but she does go cheap. The medical center would only have go give her a pack of smokes or a sweaty $5 bill.

They generally get paid minimum wage or slightly above.

I don't know if the FDA still allows it, but I've met more than one person that volunteered for that kind of thing.  They weren't all there, if you get my meaning.

Every experiment needs a control group. She may be in the "jellied  brain threshhold" group.

So I got a tour of the Coffee shop I will be working at.

It is owned by the treatment center that is treating my PTSD

Surely the general public will not be allowed in the place.

Yeah, I thought about including the diners, but I figure the sane people already know what they're getting themselves into by eating at this sort of establishment.

On that note, we have something similar around here that I support in more ways than one because of the changed lives I have seen come out of it.  It's Christian-based, so the primitives wouldn't be interested in it.

well, they would, if they could take advantage of it and come back to the island later to bash it.

Has Amber said anything about her laptop computer lately?

She was really really attached to it.

The most likely outcome, though if Chief Running Drugs or an associate stole it, I suspect that she'd shut up about that, too.

She is using the one in the library so we do know that she doesn't have the laptop anymore. I suspect the pawn shop.

She doesn't own anything else of value worth trading.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Yes but it's also useless to use legal documents - like liability release forms - with this particular class of employee, as well. After all, if they aren't "of sound mind" when they sign the contract, and what's more, you're aware of the fact because you're the one with the dart gun full of Thorazine on your hip, there's no real way to enforce the contract against them if the cheese should happen to fall off their cracker in the middle of brewing a vente half caff/decaff for some hapless customer.
