So I got a tour of the Coffee shop I will be working at.

It is owned by the treatment center that is treating my PTSD. The 2 GM's are councilors. They watch of systems and, if you are switching medication, for side effects. It is a working Coffee Shop, yet also therapy.

Some that are there are also in my support group. It will be nice working with people that understand what I am trying to accomplish because that is what they are there to do to.

The atmosphere is very loose and casual. The uniform is blue jeans and snickers. There are enough working at one time that if someone needs a moment for some reason, it won't be a problem. They said this is to help people learn how to cope with triggers that may come up in everyday life. And if a trigger happens, I can step off, grab a GM and work it out.

Oh, and I am also going to try a new treatment they are working on here at the U of A where they use Ultra Sound to help with the depression part of what I have. I am looking forward to it.

Uh-oh, she will not be able to use the PTSD excuse for why she is a lousy worker anymore if these other people are halfway competent. Odd are looking good she is going to have "issues" with her meds pretty soon.

God help me!  I just pictured her wearing snickers over her boobs and a pair of jeans.  I want to pull my brain out and trade it in with someone else right now.

Well, don't look at me.  Mine's out getting a beer.

Let me get this straight:  There is a business that sells sugared caffeine products, staffed by mental therapy patients, while under the watchful eye of two councilors who are on station to provide intervention if one of them spaz's out...  Did I get that right?

There is a place called "the point" in Covington KY that is completely staffed by developmentally disabled people.  They  supposedly make wonderful food there and have an uncanny attention to detail and customer service which could be attributed to their disabilities.  Unfortunately, having the cast from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" manning the operations of a coffee house does not provide great confidence in their final product.

They should not he allowed to work in jobs which require handling of food and beverages

Yeah, that would bother me too.

But they have to do something, so as to learn self-esteem; work is good for them.

When I was manager of a privately-owned student union years ago, there was a big food-court in the building, and I understandably was in favor of hiring the handicapped.  And I did.  But they did the cleaning-up stuff, nothing having to do with preparing and serving food.

It worked well.

Unfortunately, having the cast from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" manning the operations of a coffee house does not provide great confidence in their final product.

Caffeine, sugar, headcases...

Honestly, they should install cameras and sell admission.
