husband's unemployment was denied

the money came through yesterday, the status changed today and he got a letter telling him he was denied. the letter said it was because he was terminated for being insubordinate, which was news to him (he never got a reason from his employer).

next step, of course, is to appeal. i deferred my student loans, i'll get signed up with the food bank and make an appointment to sign up for food assistance. i'll start looking for a second job.

he's applying for jobs every day, but nothing yet so far. i had to add him to my health insurance, so there goes another ten percent of my pay (it was cheaper than exchange and much better coverage). we've put $300 on the credit card for car repairs and had to take one of them back to the shop today.

i haven't felt like crying once since he lost his job, but i'm on the verge of tears. not for me, not because of money, but for him. he's so beat down right now and i can't do anything to make him feel better. he wants to go back to school, but has no idea for what. he's going to go to the workforce center and see what they can help him with.

we won't starve, we won't get evicted, but i worry some about how we're going to make it if something doesn't give soon. and i'm embarrassed even though i have to reason to be, i just never thought i'd wind up in this position.

On the DUmmie OP use your mouse, click and hold the left mouse button and pull it down until the whole OP is covered (to include screen name and post count) by blue. Make sure to grab the whole OP.  Then hit ctrl and hold it down then hit the c key

Once you've done that then come back here and start a new thread or post. Once the thread or post is open the first thing you type is {quote}

after that hit your enter button to drop down a line and then hold your ctrl key and hit v key

On the bottom of the the quote you will have to add {/quote} in order to close quote.

Remember to replace any { symbols with [ symbols

Also, any time you quote a DUmmie thread make sure you provide a link back.

What, like an old dog?   :panic:

I was a nervous wreck with the first thread I rowed over here.  It'll get better with practice, jb.

As for the OP:  Fizzy, the last thing he should do is "go back to school" at this point.  This never seems to end well.  School costs money, usually lots of money.  And there's no apparent goal there.

DUmmy fizzgig and her husband bear no resemblance to Doug.

fizz and spouse are both mentally ill, in and out of lunatic asylums while Doug is just monumentally stupid.

fizz herself is a longtime contributor to the DUmp's loonybin.

She shaves her head as therapy, runs around the house naked, and is about thirty years younger than Doug.

I posted this yesterday in my DOTY selection:

Quote
9- fizzgig- The year started out with her buying a cabin in the woods. The year ended with her husband losing his job. That in itself is worthy of a top 10.

This denial moves it up the list.

my husband lost his job this week - updated

they called him on monday and fired him over the phone. they haven't given him a reason yet, but i'm sure they will when he goes to pick up his last check. he suspects a couple of things it could be, but they aren't very good reasons.

ill timing for sure, but i'm not in panic mode. he's already filed for unemployment and is putting out applications. he can drive big trucks and move heavy boxes, so i'm hoping he can get on with ups or fed ex, at least for the holidays. he's thinking about going to get his cdl permit, too.

there is no way we can live on my pay alone, but we have rent covered, bills are paid for the month, car insurance isn't due for a couple of months and i can feed us pretty cheaply. i'm no stranger to the food bank and am probably still signed up with them. we do have to get the car aligned and, as much as i hate to do it, that will probably go on the credit card. i can defer my student loan payments if need be.

it won't affect our thanksgiving because dad foots the bill on that. christmas will be what it is, i know everyone will understand if we can't do much.

our big problem is that we have $75 in savings, so we have nothing to fall back on. and it also means that he has no health insurance, so i need to figure out what that means in regards to the aca.

i know i will feel differently if nothing has changed in a couple of weeks, but we'll deal with that when it comes. no use in worrying about it, all we can do is hope for the best and plan for the worst. but good thoughts would be appreciated nonetheless.

update: quick turnaround on those vibes, everyone! he had a phone interview with ups while i was out shopping. they said they'd get back to him soon. it would be an on-call position, which is better than nothing. not banking on it just yet, but this is definitely positive news.

BURN THE HERETIC!!!!!1111!!!!1elebinty

Thou shall sayeth nothing bad nor not sayeth goodness of the Obama Care.

And just to cheer up the Duchebag, next year your employer will give you the nice present of going to the exchanges for your insurance. Just remember that the democrats  made that happen. Not a single Republican voted for it. In fact Republicans did everything they could to keep it from happening. Remember that when you vote.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

30% of my DOTY picks frequent the mental health forum.  Mental health forum members are naturally strong contenders.

I still think LocoNuts should try shaving his head, and I am disappointed that the fizzgig primitive hasn't already suggested it to him.
