According to CNN story from the IAEA:

40 grams of Co-60.

Based on the age of the source and the amount it decayed, that came out to about 111 TBq, which means 34 Sv/hour at 1 meter, or in more common terms, 3000 Curies, and 3400 Rem/hour at 1 meter, meaning LD50/30 dose would be achieved at 1 meter in about 10 minutes, but they were a lot closer than that.

Bq-Becquerel, equal to one decay per second.
Sv-Sievert. 1 Sievert equal to 100 Rem.
LD50/30--Lethal dose to 50 percent of people exposed within 30 days.
Does that mean we could use the thieves as a nightlight?

If they live that long.

Which they didn't, apparently.

I have a few Craftsman tools, but most of my hand tools say "China". I guess that's a brand?

I keep a bunch of Chinese hand tools around because they are great for making one-off Frankenstein tools.  Need a thin wall 14mm crescent?  Stick a Chinese one on the grinder.

If I'm buying for daily use, I'll buy Craftsman.  If somebody else is buying for me, feel free to purchase Proto or Wright.   :-)

If they live that long.

Long enough to get their just desserts.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

POLICE BLOCK MEXICO HOSPITAL, 6 MAY HAVE RADIATION

By ADRIANA GOMEZ LICON and EMILIO LOPEZ — Dec. 6, 2013 2:17 PM EST

PACHUCA, Mexico (AP) — Federal police blocked access Friday to a central Mexico hospital where six people were reported to have been admitted with radiation exposure.

An official familiar with the case confirmed Mexican media reports that the six have been admitted to the general hospital in the city of Pachuca and may have been exposed to a stolen source of cobalt-60.

The official, who spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak to the media, said only one person was dizzy and vomiting, which are symptoms of radiation poisoning.

The atomic energy agency said the cobalt has an activity of 3,000 curries, or Category 1, meaning "it would probably be fatal to be close to this amount of unshielded radioactive material for a period in the range of a few minutes to an hour."

Now wait a minute. Nutcase nadin is trying to be her usual humble self while trying to claim events are as she predicted.

They clearly are not! The nutcase promised us a bunch of toasted mexicanos.

All we've got are six guys arrested, with one of them dizzy and puking.

That would describe nearly every business trip I've ever taken to the shithole south of Texas.

Someone always claims he can eat or drink anything in Latin America with no trouble.

One out of six is about right. Two out of six wouldn't be unusual, leaving us with a nice foursome for golf.

Cobalt 60 SHIT!!! is another nadin fail.

Absolutely, it was above the "canned milk expert", entry.

Bitch probably doesn't even know what BWR stands for, let alone who built it.
