Why Millennials Can’t Grow Up

Why Millennials Can’t Grow Up

Amy (not her real name) sat in my office and wiped her streaming tears on her sleeve, refusing the scratchy tissues I’d offered. “I’m thinking about just applying for a Ph.D. program after I graduate because I have no idea what I want to do.” Amy had mild depression growing up, and it worsened during freshman year of college when she moved from her parents’ house to her dorm. It became increasingly difficult to balance school, socializing, laundry, and a part-time job. She finally had to dump the part-time job, was still unable to do laundry, and often stayed up until 2 a.m. trying to complete homework because she didn’t know how to manage her time without her parents keeping track of her schedule.

I suggested finding a job after graduation, even if it’s only temporary. She cried harder at this idea. “So, becoming an adult is just really scary for you?” I asked. “Yes,” she sniffled. Amy is 30 years old.

Her case is becoming the norm for twenty- to thirtysomethings I see in my office as a psychotherapist. I’ve had at least 100 college and grad students like Amy crying on my couch because breaching adulthood is too overwhelming.

What a sad state of affairs we find ourselves in as a country.

By the time I was 20 years old, I was a crew chief in the USAF , responsible for ensuring that the B-52 bomber assigned to me was fully mission capable to meet the hectic training schedule while meeting our nuclear alert commitments and this stupid 30 year old twat can't manage to work a part time job, do her laundry and finish her homework.

If this is a representation of the majority of this Country's youth, then we are screwed.

The last couple of sentences is very frightening, this is becoming the norm. This is the mentality of the Obama supporting youth.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

With libs only too happy to cultivate it...look at what the up front freebies of Ocare were and who they were aimed at.

Sure has changed from smart kids dropping out of school to get started in life.

Yes, it was stupid but some became quite successful.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

It's not, but it's an increasing percentage, IMO.  This is what happens when everyone is a special little snowflake and nobody gets their ass kicked between their shoulderblades as a child once or twice.

Amy needs to be dropped off under a bridge.

Because of the liberal nobody needs to get hurt mentality...  Nobody needs red pens marking out grades, nobody loses on the sports fields, nobody should be told they are male or female, anything bad said to anyone is bullying.

I have been working since I was 8 years old raking and mowing lawns because my parents told me if I wanted nicer clothes and shoes I would have to work for them.  I haven't stopped working since except for short periods due to looking for work.  When I was 20 years old I went to college, and worked to full time jobs because I had a young child.  The liberals don't instill any work ethic in their kids period.  "Oh you want to finger paint on the walls??? Go ahead honey, do what ever your little heart desires... nevermind you are 17."
"The society that puts equality before freedom will end up with neither; the society that puts freedom before equality will end up with a great measure of both."

"Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program."

"We have a system that increasingly taxes work and subsidizes nonwork."

-Milton Friedman

"I can fly" comes to mind...

Pirates are another recurring theme with libs...

There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
