Don't Just Fume...Complain.

Ticked off at a company? Not treated well on a visit to some franchise operation? Don't just be pissed off. Complain.

Recently, my wife ordered two pizzas from a local Pizza Hut, using the ordering system at the Pizza Hut website. She submitted the order an hour before we wanted the pizzas, and ordered them to be picked up at the store. The confirmation email said that they'd be ready at a specific time. So, I drove over there at that time to pick up the pizzas.

(Note: I'm not a fan of Pizza Hut pizzas, frankly, but that was what was ordered.)

So I got there, went up to the counter and said my name and that I was there to pick up my pizzas. I got this:

"Those pizzas aren't ready." I asked when they would be. "About thirty minutes."

But wait. I had ordered them an hour before, so I asked if there was a reason they weren't ready. "I have no idea."

I realized that they hadn't started making them. They waited until I came in the door before even putting them together. I asked about that. "Yah, we don't bother making pizzas ordered on the Internet until the person comes in to pick them up." I asked whether they would have made the pizzas in advance if I had called their phone number. "Yah, probably."

While I waited, I had a conversation with the manager, who I asked to come talk with me, through the clerk. She wasn't any more helpful. She also told me that they never make pizzas from Internet orders until the person shows up. I asked what the point of having Internet ordering was, then, if they didn't try to have the pizzas ready at the time promised. She just shrugged. I waited and got my pizzas and took them back to the house.

So, I sent a feedback to the corporate website, explaining what had happened. They take the store number, the time of the order, and the amount paid for the pizza. I wrote a description of the experience, and explained that I wasn't that pleased with this policy of not making pizzas until the person who ordered showed up.

So, today, I got a phone call from the franchise owner. I have a couple of free pizzas coming the next time I order. He didn't sound all that happy about it, but he must have gotten a wake-up communication from corporate. He apologized for my inconvenience. It almost sounded sincere. The coupons for the free pizzas will be in the mail. Whether I use them or not is open to question, but the complaint did get some action.

So, complain. Don't get pissed and stew about it. Just complain. Let corporate know how their franchise owners are representing the brand. You'll get a free pizza, at least.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024109208

In other words this was a long winded tip on how to get free stuff.

The fact that somehow this is a new idea is amusing to me. Every time I have ever received bad service, I've made a polite complaint and they usually make it right. No muss, no fuss and everyone is happy.

The DUmmies will shout at the waiter or waitress and then wonder why the manager isn't all that helpful. Then again I'm not a self centered prick who thinks everyone owes me something.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Where do we send the complaints about not being able to get health care on the terrible train wreck of a fiasco Obama heath care website?

Will I get two free months of super expensive junk Obama Care insurance?

NO! Because Obama does not care that he personally had tens of million of people that were insured kicked of a plan they likes AND had been paying for. All to give to those that will not pay for and have others pay for.

For lurking DUchebags, this is far worse than Katrina. Obama self inflicted this disaster that will kill 1000 times more people than Katrina.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

DUmmie rockboy didn't think it through.
If Pizza Hut or any other business whipped up an internet order when they got it..
..how many would go to waste due to prank orders?
That's the reason, rockboy.

I order internet pizzas all the time, and they're always ready when I get there.  Maybe Rockman lives in an area where people do this.  People don't that here.

And good point, Jukin.

I'll bet they make the ones that have credit card numbers on the order and hold off on those marked "cash" for that very reason

That's the part that I didn't connect.
Karin, how did you order yours, and are you a known customer?

Hold on here pros and con's to this.

When you pay for something then you expect to get your moneys worth.

When my company decided to put out a new product in frozen foods we the workers knew there had not been enough research in the packaging.  The idea just didn't work as we are also consumers but no one wanted to listen to us.   The project was shut down when not just us but the company that contracted us were flooded with mail about the product.  I cannot tell you how many photo's came in of what the customers had found when they opened the product.

These consumers  were red butt angry paying a couple bucks for a product that as one said he would not
feed to his cat.   We had tried to tell management this was not going to work but they refused to listen.

We sent out 3- $1.00 coupons for another product to the complainers, but it was a costly mistake for the brand that had contracted us and as far as I know the Company never accepted another bid from us.

We have the right to demand when we pay for something it can be used for the purpose intended. If unusable, we want our money back, simple idea.

You spend $15.00 for a half cooked Pizza with a roach on top, take a picture and fire off a letter to corporate office.  This is not getting anything free, this is getting your hard earned money back  and at that price some people have to work almost 2 hours to earn it. Do we throw the Pizza in the garbage forget about it and open a can of pork and beans ?

I did tend when working to try to figure out the number of hours or minutes I had to work to afford something.   I see an item I want cost of $50.00, how many hours will I have to stand on cold, hard, concrete at 2 AM to buy it.    Do I really want this item so bad or is there something else I NEED not want worth the trouble??

Like many people I have been taken by the bait and switch, watered down drinks and bought Lemon Autos,
piss me off big time.   This is not wanting something for free, dag nab it.    To yell to high heavens that one is taken by false advertising is acceptable.

If I buy a candy bar for $1.00  that states it has 6 oz. of product than weigh it and find there is only 4 1/2 oz.
of product, is this no reason after buying a couple dozen or so to demand the company to reimburse me for the missing weight I paid for ?  I am not asking for free product , I just want what I paid for.

This OP that wasted 30 minutes of his short life waiting to pay for his expensive Pizza had he know ahead of time, he would have gone to Domino's or ordered it delivered to his home.   Time is money.

I order Pizza Hut online once every ten days or so.

The order is invariably ready when I arrive at the promised time. Invariably, as in every single time.

Not once have I given them a credit card number, and I never sign into an account; I just pay cash when I pick up the order.

Whether you like Pizza Hut or not, their online ordering system works as smooth as silk.

DUmpmonkey Mineral Man tried to fabricate an anti-corporate bouncy tale, but made the mistake of using a company that millions of consumers know very, very well.

He's a liar, and that was obvious even to his moronic fellow DUmmies.

The Hub and I have a great relationship with both Pizza Hut and Domino's.  I order online and have it delivered just in time for dinner.  They know us now, but even when we were new customers there was never a problem.  The delivery guy/girl is prompt and polite...we tip well...everyone is happy.
