My wife's Thanksgiving shopping rant she gave to her cousins. I thought I would share.

My wife's cousins are lucky enough to be well off. both have nice homes and enjoy shopping. She was very disappointed in them today and I know we have on this board for the past week argued about what's the is it or isn't it a big deal about stores being opened on Thanksgiving.

She basically said:  (The key word is BASICALLY. What follows is the GIST of what happened. More or less.

Really?! You actually want to go shopping today because it is boring sitting around waiting for your mother and aunts to cook Thanksgiving dinner. What's the big deal?

How about the disrespect we are showing to our fellow Americans more and more each year. We have these poor retail people working for wages that keep them at the poverty level with no vacation time and sick leave time--usually and because of most of the states being right to work states these people can be fired for not taking an extra shift or taking time off to care for their children or for call off because they are too sick and have a fever so high that they can't stand up OR they can easily be fired for twitting about a bad day at work.

In 2013 we are still under the illusion that we are the greatest country in the world when in reality we are the biggest joke ever on humanity. We are seeing the divide of the have and have nots becoming wider and wider and no one is serious about this! We let corporations get richer and richer on the backs of our fellow humans who are JUST trying to make a small comfortable corner in this world for themselves.

All relatives talk like this to each other, of course.

By going shopping today you in my mind are helping Corporation slap their workers in the face yet again.

The slaps in the face of low wages, of no benefits, of knowing they can so easily replace AND now you want greed to basically say these people are not deserving of time with their families?

You people are lucky that you have jobs that allow you to take LONG weekends off for holidays EVEN weeks. YES you work hard and I'm not denying you or just earnings BUT just remember while you are shopping and "Having Fun" today that person helping you or checking you out isn't making HALF of what you make!

And I think my wife summed up what some of us on this board have been trying to say.

We treat these people so poorly min wage that with all the hurdlers they have to go through with little pay and little to no benefits like holiday pay or sick time and those who may have it it seems they get penalized for using those times. Do we really want to force them away from their families?

It would be one thing if stores asked for volunteers and paid them time in a half but their are some stores who don't pay workers time and a half that they cut hours and manipulate schedules so these workers never get full time to qualify for time and a half and these people work their asses off for those few pennies an hour and yet we are okay with yet another slap in the face that you HAVE to work a holiday and you are not worthy to have a holiday.

If I offend I am sorry.

Yes, there are restaurants that are open because there are some people who don't like to cook. Of the restaurants open the ones I know that are open are family run sit down places who asked their wait staff to volunteer and they often had staff only work a few hours allowing them to spend the rest of their time with family.

Yes, hospitals firefighters cops etc are working but think logically you need these serves and these are people well pay who will see double time if not time and a half plus they often have festive parties in their break rooms (the retailers are not) and their jobs are important.

What I believe and my wife believe is that those who are in the worst situation shouldn't have to also see their holiday suffer for profits they will never see or benefit from.

Wow, the detail they can remember is truly stunning. They should try counting cards.

Oh screw it. I lost interest. HOW many bouncies does this make today alone? And since 2001, how many you-shouldn't-be-shopping jeremiads have there been? That's right - NONE. It's amazing how well-timed these things are.

Don't try to make sense of a DUmbasses POV. It can lead to migraines, involuntary facial tics, and chronic anal leakage.

On the one hand they bitch about people working the T'giving holiday, and on the other they bitch about it being a holiday at all since it represents the rape and pillage of the North American continent and its peaceful natives. Peaceful natives who were all riding Skittle-shitting unicorns under rainbow skies until a bunch of Old, Angry White Guysâ„¢ smothered them all with smallpox-laden Snuggies.

And if the employees were that desperately poor, wouldn't it be callous to make them sit home eating cold cat food that they sold their children for whilst the corporate fat cats dined on cruelly-raised Tur-duck-ens stuffed with foie gras, when they could have been out earning a few more dollars to buy Obamacare with?

And isn't the desire of so many to shop on Native American Holocaust Day an indicator of the roaring economy brought to us by The Annointed One, who singlehandedly rescued us from the brink of financial collapse?

I went to the local Walmart yesterday 3 times between 9am and 2pm to get things for the mrs.

On every one of those occasions, I ran into someone I worked with when I was an employee there back in 2008.  Back then, overtime was a BIG NO-NO, but today, all of them told me they were working almost as many overtime hours (time and a half, DUmmies!) as straight hours.  It appears the economy in MY right to work state is doing so well, the Walmart here is short-staffed, and welcomes overtime.

One said he VOLUNTEERED to work Thanksgiving Day, even though it would mean 16 hours straight, because he would get 8 overtime PLUS holiday pay (usually an extra $2/hr.)

Stay stupid, DUmbasses!   :hammer:

Personally, I think this DUmmie is a mole who is trying too hard; however, if he is a genuine DUmmies instead of a mole he seems to be stupid even by DU standards.

I watch the video and commented but still found the image very disturbing....I have to add and some may be offended by this - I find that this is a time where I am ashamed to be an American.

Can you imagine if we used all that energy to help those of us who really needed it. There isn't enough to help you, diabutticboy. Get a life.
Does this apply??

DUmmies are a study in internal conflict.

THE ISSUE ISN'T THE ISSUE.

They don't bitch so as to encourage you to want you to adopt Policy A to resolve Issue X or Policy B to resolve Issue Y the objective is to bitch about The System because they do not control The System.

The objective is to launch an unending series of complaints in view of the low-information observer. Said observer will not remember the issue, let alone the details. Instead the idea is to make the low information observer have a negative emotional reaction. That reaction is the thing that will be remembered rather than the underlying complaint.

Then, whenever the low information observer has future interactions with The System it will be tainted by some ill-defined negative emotional reaction and will learn to distrust and despise The System.

It's operant conditioning at it's most basic.

As further proof look how they react when they own The System, i.e. DemCare.

Every effort is made to suppress ANY negative emotional reaction, no matter how slight. You are only allowed to have positive reactions so that you think in positive terms, regardless of how miserably the Dems have failed. Never mind the fact the complaints about The Old System are the same -- people losing coverage and being left to die so corporations can continue making money -- to undermine the positive emotional perception of DemCare is tantamount to bombing government offices (for some Proglodytes that's not a mere hyperbolic metaphor but a literal truth).

THE ISSUE ISN'T THE ISSUE. Only the emotional reaction to The System is what matters.

You are not allowed to have your own emotional responses (Why do you think they keep saying you vote against your own best interests?) because Proglodytes DO NOT accept free will as a permissible human condition. Your free will is an affront to their commandments.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Personally, I think this DUmmie is a mole who is trying too hard; however, if he is a genuine DUmmies instead of a mole he seems to be stupid even by DU standards.

OK so the only people that they think should be forced to work the holidays are the people that THEY need.

One does not need desperately a lawn and garden shop to be open, or the liqueur store.  But we do need places to buy gas, Hospital, Police and fire departments.   There are so many people we depend on, is the Po's complaint only extend to those that work a department stores , Sears, Penny's, Kmart and Wal-Mart ?

So I do hope this guys house does not catch fire, their family in the hospital or nursing home, ----Have a friend or family member locked up in the hoosegow .    Where are the guards to let them out of their cells, do the prisoners go without any meal as the kitchen staff is home cooking for their family ?  Wonderful to rush to the hospital and find a sign that reads "Closed for the Holiday's."

Usually the volunteers are those that need the money more then a timed dinner with family that eats and runs.

Most civilized places I have worked at has had a plan in place to accommodate the workers holidays.  The Jews would work for the Christians at Christmas and Easter, The Christians would work for the Jewish high Holidays and Saturdays.

If people WANT to work on the Holidays why the heck not.  Who are these people that decide to direct the earnings of others?     The days of the week they can work or how many hours they can work ?

Choice is utmost among Americans, seems the Libs are too young to remember when we had the BLUE Laws, early 70's one could not buy in Norfork VA. anything but food on a Sunday except the news paper.
What a shock, walk into a grocery store that also sold things other then food and sheets were draped over the forbidden items .   It was illegal to buy magazines or books of any kind------One could not even buy a Bible on the way to church.

Today at Christmas day, other then the Truck Stops the only restaurants open were the Asian, all the choice of the owners that ran them.

We have come a long way baby from when I started to work and found there was a State law that said in my position at work I as a woman could not work overtime and males doing the very same job were allowed to and pay was way more then woman .

You Libs started all this way back when, so quit your bitchin when you get what you demanded.

The issue is that the labor unions are desperate to unionize retail workers to fill their coffers.  They put the word out through social media that working on Thanksgiving is bad, especially at Walmart and other big chains.  Last year, the DUmmies could give a shit about Thanksgiving, now it's the holiest, most special day of the year, go figure.

Their internet should be cut off on Thanksgiving because there is 1000's of employees manning the NOC's and Call-Centers.  They electric, water, cell service, and everything else should be cut off on those days seeing that there is also people working around the clock on all of those as well.

And I just thought of something else.  R-Smith numbers mentioned in a bouncy shopping online.  Does he thinks those web sites and servers and call centers run themselves?  I think not idiots.  They don't care whether people work on Thanksgiving they care about making a point and that is it.  They are a bunch of lying hypocrites and every post is proof.
