Every Proglodyte complains that an employer should treat them like family. They want to be coddled, sympathized with, treated with a generously open hand, etc.
NOTE: That is a far cry from the shabby treatment they give their own families with their constant complaints, blaming and disrespect for individuals.
What the OP is saying is he treated his co-workers as family; i.e. making the most of the time spent with them even though the task at hand may not have been the first choice of activities.
Everything a Proglodyte seeks is for others to approach them in supplication and deference before they deign to take notice of others. You must go to them on their terms before they will bother to look at you favorably (don't even try and pretend you're their equal. They're so much smarter than you they even know when you aren't voting in your own best interest).
Maybe you lurking ****tards would be happier if you would at least TRY to act happy, as if you enjoy the people you are with in the moment you are with them. If you find everything and everyone so tedious there is a place you can go to escape all of it.
In popular literature it's called Hell.
