Posts that Piss Me Off !! ... Lately Anyway ....

The OP that shows up ...... everybody responds (like 30 + )... yet the original poster either never comes back to argue, or defend their claim, but the OP lets it ride ...... and yet the thread is not considered 'flame-bait' and it stays out there ..... this drives me nuts !!! So don't respond to my freaking response in the thread .... BUT FREAKING RESPOND TO SOMEONES !!! IT'S A FREAKING DISCUSSION BOARD, don't just disappear unless you say in the OP you gotta go and will get back to it !!! Geesh ..... I know hit and run threads are a dime a dozen but if you do this ... you are suspect. Peace.

START A DISCUSSION THEN BE READY TO DEFEND IT ... THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW !!!!

IT'S A DISCUSSION BOARD

to qualify .... 'General DISCUSSION' ..... or such .... not relevant to 'Latest Breaking News' etc ... Peace.

Just a thought

You know, the most prominent practitioner of "drive by posting" is none other than the Bostonian Drunkard.

When other aspiring literary illiterates such as the legendary herb primitive and--so help me--the American Nana primitive and the shadowy primitive post things they've composed, those primitives stay around to engage with their audience.

The Bostonian Drunkard posts something, and then leaves.

The first primitive to comment at this bonfire unwittingly describes the Bostonian Drunkard:

1. I believe that those are referred to as "drive by" postings

Also, when I post something, my wisdom and correctness are so clearly self-evident that subsequent posts by me would only be redundant.

4. I think OP referring to the highly charged provocative issue posts...

I think many of us post informaional threads without hanging around for any discourse....

I believe you and I came across at least one of the former "drive by" types this morning and the O-poster remains untouched

14. Could be they post before work, and by the time they get home, the mods have locked it.

16. There are some days where I open DU, look at the titles of a couple of threads, get pissed

And leave for the day.

17. Well, I post sometimes while at work on a break

And can't always get back to a thread.

OPs I post that are my own opinion I usually do in the evening/night and tend to reply back as able (but with a kid and the wife, dinner, bedtimes, etc and so on I am not always able to).

Sometimes I just give up on an argument as it seems no one will give (myself included) and at that point it is not a discussion anymore but an argument against two pig headed people.

Overall answer - life gets in the way.

I bet (boldened area, above).

The bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive:

25. And also, it's "people who," not "people that."

Getting back to the Bostonian Drunkard and his "drive by posting."

When I was in the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, someone told me about a particularly brutal prison guard.  This was from the Khrushchev-Brezhnev era, long after the Stalin era, and so one imagines they used to be even worse, although how is hard to imagine.

The prisoners were kept locked sixteen to a cell (made to hold one) at a certain prison, and were fed twice a day, and the latrine bucket handed out to be emptied twice a day.

This one guard would take the full latrine bucket from one cell, and abruptly opening the door to another cell, slosh its contents at the prisoners congested in there, hollering, "EAT IT UP!  EAT IT UP!" and slam the door shut.

This is what the Bostonian Drunkard's dive-by posting reminds me of; the Bostonian Drunkard suddenly opens the door, shovels in some shit, hollering "EAT IT UP, PRIMITIVES!  EAT IT UP, DUMMIES!" and then slams the door shut, leaving.

Why the primitives have never caught on to that the Bostonian Drunkard has no respect for them, I don't know.

If you've noticed, there's a lot of C&P posts to start a thread where the OP doesn't make any comment. Judy Lynn used to be the queen of this tactic. At one time, she dominated LBN.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Lately, it appears the Swanson's TV dinners primitive has been giving the kaput primitive a run for the title.

If that were true, why did you find it necessary to point it out?  Either it's evident and others clearly have noticed, therefore making your statement redundant, or your belief that your "wisdom and correctness are so clearly self-evident that subsequent posts by me would only be redundant" is simply not the case.

These idiots aren't even clever by half.
