Folks, I know I’ve joked before about how long the strip has to last (counting down until the expiration of my contract), but I need to be completely serious right now.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, the strip is probably going to come to an end very soon.

Back in 2007 I had three surgeries which, thanks to my losing my insurance earlier in the year, socked me for $250,000 in medical bills, devastating most of my savings. This started my major problems.

In December 2008 my mother’s house was destroyed in a fire. She had no insurance and no savings, and thanks to the medical bills neither of us had the credit to get a mortgage, so most of what was left of my savings went to put a roof over her head in an emergency.

These two events compounded the problems I had been having with my own mortgage, and I received word yesterday that a foreclosure on our house has been completed. Unless we can pay off the full amount of our mortgage very soon, we will be out on the street, probably in the next month or so.

As a result of this, I will most likely be homeless and obviously unable to continue the strip.

I’ve tried everything I could over the past several months to bring in money, but the strip pays literally next to nothing, I’ve been unable to sell any of my writing, and the few collectibles I have left just aren’t fetching the money they would have a year ago.

I’m literally out of time and out of hope. I have no feet left to land on.

I’m sorry to lay all this on everyone, but I wanted you all to know exactly what was going on in case the strip disappears. If/when it happens, it wasn’t uClick’s decision (they’ve been very supportive of the strip and I love them for it), nor was it one that I will have wanted to make.

This is Bryan, Pab's partner, posting to let you know that he is back in the hospital. He's right now undergoing surgery to remove the part of his bowel/intestine/colon/whatever that was affected by the diverticuli.

I will post with an update when I know one (once he is out of surgery).

And what's up with this "partner" business?

Why doesn't he call himself Pab's "husband"?

I'm afraid ol' homo Pab will be kicked to the curb as soon as his partner/husband/top/pitcher finds a catcher who weighs less than a quarter ton.

Or any other homo with a roof over his head.

One thing homo Pab has going for him (the only thing, actually) - if he gets DUmped, P-A- will make a word with about any other letter.

That name IS so gay! :rofl: He claims to be a successful author and yet he can't even pay the heat bill? Yes, it's one and the same.

His "husband" apparently works, in some sort of unspecified labor.  He of the expanded rectal aperture is the stay-at-home "wife" who ostensibly dusts the furniture, vaccuums the carpeting, washes the dishes, makes the beds, &c., &c., &c.

I dunno why the "wife" of the pair doesn't work; perhaps he's one of these sensitive aesthetes who's "too good" to manually labor.

For those who don't know, the main nerve running down into my left leg was damaged during the first of my three operations for diverticulitis in 2007. (I went into the hospital on my birthday, which is one if the reasons I no longer celebrate it.)
 
The damage left me with a condition called Meralgia paraesthetica, and cannot be reversed. The pain has come and gone for the past six years and lately it has come a lot more than it has gone.
 
If my leg isn't in exactly the right position the damaged parts of the nerve fire randomly. For an idea of what it feels like, imagine a very bad sunburn. From my thigh to my knee, that's what it feels like.
 
As I said, no painkiller can help. Even when I was on dilaudid in the hospital I could feel it. (But as I was on dilaudid I didn't give a shit.)
 
It's really only in the last year and a half that it has become debilitating. I can't walk up or down steps like I used to. (Down is actually worse than up.) Sitting for more than a few minutes gets uncomfortable. And as you can see by this time stamp, many nights I can't sleep.
 
If I am short with you nowadays just ask if I'm in pain. Odds are I am and don't realize I am taking it out on you.
 
God, I just want it to go away.

Well, judging from his pictures, I'll bet if he lost a whopping 350 pounds, he'd be in better to deal with the pain.
