Oh my.

It's a refreshing change of pace for the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive, who's more usually either promoting infanticide or excusing (or blaming) thugs based upon the color of their skin.

I was hoping to see nadin at this campfire, but alas, no nadin.

Floating island of rubbish three times size of BRITAIN floating towards California

A floating island of debris three times the size of BRITAIN is heading for the California coastline sparking huge environmental concerns.

Five millions tons of rubbish made up of devastated homes, boats, cars and businesses is making its way across the Pacific Ocean following the 2011 tsunami in Japan.

Scientists have already discovered debris on the west coast but their latest findings suggest California is expected to be hit with a deluge all at once.

America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their latest findings showing a huge island of rubbish floating northeast of the Hawaiian Islands.

12. Why doesn't it show up in satellite photos?

13. Dare I ask if there is more than rubbish in this massive island?

Like perhaps corpses/skeletons.

How many of the "missing" were ever recovered? Even assuming that most might have been eaten, I wonder...

If you judge by mass and negative effects, I expect the trash floating across the Rio Grand dwarfs the tsunami debris.

Good for Kalifornia.
They deserve it.
Help keep America beautiful...deface a liberal.

The vast majority of the tsunami debris has broken up, disintegrated, and sunk.

Some may still be afloat, scattered out over a big, big ocean.

It doesn't show on satellite photos because it's infinitesimal in comparison to the vastness of the sea.

DUmmies love to throw a panic.

No one loves a panic more than nadin, but nadin won't chime in to support cali - they hate one another.

There's been a new DU OP on this a couple of times in the last few days.  One of them was that the floating island is the size of Texas, another, larger than California.

But they snap at one another about is it really an island, or is it simply a large area of particles, or why did you use the daily mail as a cite, and so on.

One can see how holiday family gatherings are a burden for them.  They just can not get along.
This too shall pass.

I'd kinda like to see that. A floating skeleton.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Huge island of rubbish floating off California

Oceanographers have found that a vast floating island of rubbish in the Pacific has doubled over a decade and is now nearly six times the size of Britain.

The giant waste collection, known as the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” lies between California and Hawaii and has been gradually growing for 60 years.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/7393412/Huge-island-of-rubbish-floating-off-California.html

Due to ocean currents, most of the trash probably comes from Kalifornia, Oregone and Wishington.
