I have apparently started a flame war on Facebook by asking this, so I turn to the Lounge as the only sober, mature, reflective deliberative body left in the world.

(For people from north of Philly or so: yes, people really say it. It's different from "kitty-corner", which just means diagonally opposite; cattywampus/catterwampus means flopped down in the middle of the floor, possibly drunkenly.)

"Kittywampus" is wrong, but I'm including it anyways to weed out the bad answers.

2. I've never used any of them, but

here in western Nebraska I've always heard it said "kittywampus."

Oh, and I've always heard "catty-corner" more often than "kitty-corner."

Speaking of cats, I say "catsup" instead of "ketchup," but I don't recall who else around these here parts do.

Never heard of cattywampus or its variations. Grew up in northern NJ.

I couldn't help but wonder if the post was made by the two idiot primitives that live a few doors down from me.  My neighborhood refers to them as the "Wampus Cats."  After they see nolabear's post, they will probably now be dubbed the "Scatological Wampus Cats."

Trick question, the real answer is, 1+1= whatever you think it is because we don't want to hurt your feelings, here's your diploma have someone read it to make sure we spelled your name right.
