If Jesus Were GOP...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023978726

I am not particularly a religious person or into organized religion. Now, DUmmies are using Jesus, considering they hate Christians, which I find really strange. My experience, I have seen many hardcore leftists who go to church, often Mainline Protestant or Unitarian.

The idea that the GOP is the party of God never ceases to have me scratching my head in confusion. I've read the Bible and it's very clear that Jesus wanted his followers to care for the poor and the sick without judgement or hesitation. It's in there over and over again.

A good smiting would serve them right.
You DUmmies pick and choose certain parts of the Bible to suit yourself. Jesus did say help poor and downtrodden people, but he never advocated socialism. Jesus would be appalled by any socialistic regime, which often is violent and repressive.

I love when greedy freeloaders that know nothing of the Bible try to use it against us. Just demonstrates their ignorance and stupidity (the ability to willingly be ignorant) the people that think they are smart demonstrate. Hence the one way moleing. One can always lower oneself. The opposite is not true.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Me too.  That was started by the left in the early 80's, which was the last time we frustrated your "the GOP is going extinct" meme.

We never started that.

The GOP is definitely not the party of God because there are too many in the GOP who are acting like Democrats.

Hey DUmmies try reading the story of the loaves and fish. Jesus took the food that was freely given by the little boy and fed the crowd. He didn't beat the kid over the head and take it from him. My understanding of Jesus is that he wanted people who followed him to willingly help people. He had no interest in forcing people to give. What you don't comprehend is charity comes from the heart not from the barrel of a gun like you want to do. If Jesus was here today you would call him a closed minded bigot, and say that he was divisive with how he preached he was the only way to go to Heaven.

I keep waiting for them to claim that Jesus is a supporter of abortion because they think the correct translation of "suffer the little children to come unto me" should be "make the little children suffer to the point of death within the womb."

They are liberals which means they are sinless.

DUmpmonkiez knowledge of Jesus is very lacking.  You may say they have no better than a bumpersticker knowledge of him.

They aren't acting, Chuck.

They are actually the republican wing of the Dimrat party.

DUmpmonkiez knowledge of Jesus is very lacking.  You may say they have no better than a bumper sticker knowledge of him.

The bumper sticker is smarter.  Never mind what is printed on it.

DUmmies just can't seem to grasp the difference in the fact Jesus DID promote charity and deplored us to help the poor, BUT Jesus DID NOT demand charity at the point of a Roman spear!

John 6:25 - 27

Quote
25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

I love Thessalonians.  Lot's of great lessons. Also a legacy to Christ's teachings through his Disciples.

The really hypocritical part is their constant complaining that history's worst tyrannies were born from people exploiting religion.

I'll hazard a guess that the Elmer Gantrys and Torquemadas of the world don't believe what is in scripture, they merely hold it over those who are ignorant as a threat...

...exactly as the OP is doing.
