Well one must admit that it does get earlier and earlier that the Xmas season begins.
Hubby went shopping and came home with a gripe, one store he went to already was playing holiday music for Xmas. WTF, we still have a couple weeks to go before Thanks Giving. Why even bother to take down the lights from the house if Xmas is now pushed back to early November, next year perhaps October.
This man of mine loves Christmas, he takes life and limb in hand to climb on the roof to put up the lights, messes about outside with the lights on the shrubs------You see as a kid his family was too poor to do this. My family just put up a tree and planted it in the front window.
Christmas is a time to celebrate, not a time for gimmes and I want and expect something from others. One present or even just a phone call to friends and family , a card saying ---I Love You ---should be enough.
There are stores that put up stickers so people can donate to poor family's for their kids. I helped deliver the toys to these kids that by the end of the day the gifts were broken or smashed, the kids were overwhelmed with all this. The Parents were in another room ignoring the kids as they had spent their money on booze and drugs. What did Christmas mean to any of them ?
In my family much to their distress, we give gifts such as a years membership in AAA or a card for a food store or something that is needed not wanted. A small toy to the kids or a cd of music to the teens but that is that.
The children's gifts are up to their parents, ever notice few of us are thanked for a gift as one is expected from us but they the receiver do not acknowledge our gift.
Sort of like sending a wedding gift and never getting a thank you or a card .
