One of my daughters said that in 4th grade, her textbook said

that Republicans are for freedom, and Democrats think the government should control them.

I wish she'd told me that in 4th grade. We were on our way home from something and she saw a political sign and asked why Republicans are for freedom but Democrats aren't. And I said, "WHAT???????" So she told me that's what her 4th grade textbook said.

This kind of stuff makes me feel like I should homeschool. Yeah Republicans are for the freedom of not paying taxes even if that causes people to die of starvation and of treatable medical problems. But they aren't for us to have the freedom to completely own our own bodies. They aren't for the freedom of people to marry the person they love. I can think of plenty of freedoms they are opposed to.

She read that two years ago and it stuck with her that well and that long. That is the power of owning the textbook market.

If Democrats are such freedom loving creatures then why is they want to regulate everything in the world?
The democrats have decided for us that we need health insurance and what level of coverage we all need. The democrats have decided we don't really need a gun for protection. The democrats have decided that we can't be trusted with salt, sugar, and sodas. The democrats have decided that we don't really need all the money we make so they will gladly take it from us to hand out to other people after they take their cut off the top. Yeah the democrats and freedom go hand in hand.  :mental:

The DUmmies are trying to get proof that the book actually said it, looks they are starting to catch on to bouncies only took them a decade.  :rotf:
I won't bother to bring that over, you can see for yourself if you want.

20. Freedom to a Republican means living above the law.

Yet, they want to be able to enforce it on others.

Once again more projection. The DUmmies want everyone else to be taxed to death, but you better leave them alone. The dems in congress are making us foot the bill for the increases in their own health care law. Meanwhile people across the country who make way less than $174k are being told to budget their money better.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Isn't this just precious.  A DUmmy wants to fire a teacher based on hearsay from a former fourth grader who misremembers something that happened when in the fourth grade two years ago.

8. Doesn't it seem more likely that she's misremembering?

And that the teacher (shame on them) made it seem so true that your daughter remembers it as being in the book?

Our memories work that way, and teachers to a fourth grader are bastions of knowledge and accuracy.

This one should be fired.
Well, bless NYC_SKP's heart.
This too shall pass.

I don't believe this for a minute, but if she really thinks this occurred, it would be easy enough to find that textbook.

It fits the narrative, no need for verification.

It's only partially true, but you're lying out your ass.  No textbook says that.  Conservative Republicans are the only ones standing for CONSTITUTIONAL freedoms.  The rest might as well be (D)Ummies.

While I agree with more than few Libertarian positions, they can go a bit too far for common sense.

It never sinks in.  It's just unbelievable.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

gollygee said republicans don't pay their taxes. Projection from a projector with a plasma projector bulb.

Funny, the DUmmies can't help put look at nearly a century of failed liberal policies, TRILLIONS of dollars of wealth redistributed in the name of "fairness" or a "war on poverty" that has done NOTHING to eliminate inequity or poverty, and what is their solution?

Just ONE MORE PROGRAM.  We just KNOW it'll work this time!!!

15. I'm glad your daughter told you that so you can refute it.

Regardless of why she came away with that understanding, that was conveyed to her in some way and needs to be debunked.

A trip to Room 101 is in order, now that the Ministry of Love has found the 4th grader guilty of crimethink.

Let's throw other peoples money at it.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Sadly, what they don't realize is that while it's for a while someone else's money, eventually 1--it's theirs, 2--they're trading that base existence for an opportunity at something much more/better.

My 8th grade Social Studies teacher said something to me, and it has stuck with me ever since.  He said:
"If you want the least amount done, for the most amount of money, get the government to do it."
This was back in 1973...
