Okay, I'm really damn mad right now

My sister and her husband are retirees living modestly on pension incomes. This past week they received a letter from Martin Marietta, informing them that their health insurance would be cut, forcing them to pay for their own medications, which are considerable. Supposedly the company blames the cost of Obamacare for this move, all the while recording record profits!!!!!!! This is bullshit.
BTW, this article was published in a Florida paper but the cuts are nationwide (my sis lives in Ohio).

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1988-10-25/business/0080010254_1_martin-marietta-health-insurance-central-florida-health
October 25, 1988|By Catherine Hinman of The Sentinel Staff

Martin Marietta Corp. will reduce health benefits on Jan. 1 for all salaried employees, including 10,500 in Orlando, in an effort to contain skyrocketing insurance costs .
The corporation paid $150 million last year to cover health insurance premiums, 25 percent more than the year before, officials said. This year, Martin expects another double-digit increase, they said, and some action was necessary if only to hold the line
In a separate announcement Monday, the corporation reported a hefty profit increase in its most recent fiscal quarter.
''For Martin Marietta to remain competitive in its markets and to continue to win the new programs necessary to retain our current levels of employment, we must contain the rate of growth of health-care costs,'' Bobby P. Leonard, vice president, wrote in a letter to employees dated Friday…. MORE

They can just budget their money better that is the answer one of you DUmmies gave to another DUmmy who was bitching about his health insurance going up.

the article that is referenced in this rant is dated 1988, more on that later.

2. They can't even lie with any finesse!

And, throwing in the partisan "Obamacare" red herring -- just to delude the already delusional!

Every Dem in the nation should call the ACA by its proper designation, and remind the hate-mongering, fear-mongering racists that Romney's hired legal lackeys authored the original version of this Act.

I'm certain they prefer not to call it by its name. If you call it by its name it is more apparent how Orwellian it is.

I love how you claim that this whole thing was Romney's fault, when it was your preezy along with his stooges Pelosi and Reid who shoved this down our throats. You idiots own this. You voted for it, you cheered when it was passed, you cheered even louder when Justice Roberts helped you keep it legal, now you can suffer the consequences of your own actions. This is a rare instance where the repukes share none of the blame.

The article appeared in today's paper and my sister and her husband just received their letter a few days ago. Cuts are to take effect on Jan. 1

Looks like the DUmmy found numbers from 1988 to try to make the corporation look bad.

14. The only thing I can think of....

Last edited Sat Oct 26, 2013, 12:55 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

When my sis told me about the letter I did a search for any news about the company cutting the health care benefits for their retirees. The article I mentioned in the OP came up as published in today's paper but with that old date.

The only thing I can figure is that the article I found pertains to a previous cut and the one which just happened hasn't hit the mainstream media yet? Anyway, yes, there are cuts coming to the health care benefits for their retirees and its going to hit some people really hard, including my family. The costs of prescription medicines alone is going to be a burden.

The MSM is really slow if they are just now getting to a story from 1988.

18. Since this same thing has been happening for years,

it is only an idiot who will believe that Obamacare is the culprit. Insurance premiums have risen well above the cost of living for decades. Health care costs have gone up at the same rates, as have drug costs. Companies have been screwing retirees by dropping insurance on them for years and years.

But all of a sudden, it is all Obamacare's fault. That is a convenient scapegoat, but it is a lie.

Let me try to explain it to you DUmmy. 0bamacare was sold as a bill that was going to lower health care costs, it was supposed to make premiums drop by 3000% or more accurately $3000, 0bama screwed it up, and our employers were supposed  to give us all raises due to their savings on health care. Well the bill passed and costs have gone up and up, so yes this is the fault of the democrats, they didn't deliver on what they promised. Only the low information freaks like you can't see what a massive failure this is.

20. New headline coming soon:

"Employers Across the Country Clamor for Single Payer Healthcare"

It's coming.

This DUmmy finally realizes the whole point of this exercise, the whole thing was to make health care such a mess that more and more people will demand single payer. In the meantime everyone gets to suffer needlessly all for 0bama and the DUmmies to get their way.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

And, if they get their precious single payer, it will be mismanaged by several orders of magnitude over O'dumbocare.

Moonbats are cheering because the muslim got his way.

The ones who aren't already on welfare still haven't realized how it will affect them.

A year or so from now they will be frantically talking about "common sense" fixes.

Single payer is the intended end result of the (un)Affordable Care Act....always has been, always will be. The roll out problems of the website were intended from the start to help facilitate this.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Here it comes. I predicted a while back that once 'Obamacare' begins to fail (BTW DUmbasses, even Obama himself was comfortable with that moniker), it would morph into the ACA, and will be based on 'Romneycare' -- making it the fault of those damned dirty repugs. Eventually Obamacare will be the mythical program never passed because the rethuglikkkans (Scott Brown) stopped it from happening, and the famous 'we have to pass it to see whats in it' line was about Obamacare, and not the ACA.

The healthcare debacle will be all about the ACA, and not Obamacare by the time Thanksgivukkah comes and goes.

and you're angry...why?
By your own words your sister will pay LESS for their healthcare...right?
Besides, who wants that stinky corporatist benefit anyways. By the time Obama nationalizes the banks their won't be pensions anyways.

Obamacare is at fault because there are regulations in place that are being forced on insurance companies, the intent is to drive insurance companies out of business and Government can come in and take care of everyone.

I suppose the moonbat could be referring to Martin Marietta Materials - Lockheed Martin spun that division off after merging since it didn't really relate to the core business. MMM produces gravel, decomposed granite, etc...

DUmmies, Obama, anyone in the Obama administration and all democrats would rather climb a greased light pole backwards to reach the top so they could tell a lie on credit than stand flat footed on the ground and tell the truth for cash.

If you DUmmies really want to be honest with yourselves and everyone else find the root of the problem, which I think most of my fellow Cavers and I will admit is true, healthcare cost have become astronomical.

Now lets ask, why have they become astronomical?

Because the government got involved........  thanks to LBJ and the Medicad and Medicare laws then Nixon and his HMO's.

I don't know how you DUmmies can not take a look at history and see that everything the Government touch's causes higher cost and larger problems.

See the problem with most liberals I come across is they always want to address the symptoms of a problem instead of fixing the problem.  And by doing this just create bigger problems.

Some examples:

Instead of cutting spending lets just raise taxes.

Instead of addressing unemployment lets extend benefits.

Instead of addressing children being born out of wedlock lets murder unborn children.

And 1000's of others if I wanted to give them all.
