Problem is the GOP, will they throw their weight behind Cruz or some non-conservative like they have been?

The GOP will throw their weight behind whoever they think the media will like.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

The GOP will throw their weight behind whoever they think the media will like.

Using my fictional spirit-guide prognostication skills I have to say that Freep is right.

I see it happening this way…

As the election draws closer and the potential Republican candidates make themselves known, the media will pick whichever Republican candidate that APPEARS to be a moderate but is known to go left. The media will play up their chosen candidate while raging against all others. Once the media candidate gets the Republican nomination, the media will then turn on the chosen Republican candidate and rage against him or her until the election.

The moral of the story is…

Do NOT vote for who you think can win because that can be deceptive. We’ve seen that in the last two elections. Vote for who you think will do the best job. Campaign for the individual. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll be surprised with morning again in America instead of more of the current mourning.

I'm pretty sure mainstream media, and that includes Fox unfortunately, have already chosen the GOP candidate for 2016.  It will be Obama's fat boyfriend from New Jersey.  They are all beating the drums already.

Too controversial.  I think Johny Mac deserves another shot he just needs to be repackaged.

Too old, too senile.

Too old, too senile.

Thus the need for repackaging.  I just love to see the sad look on his face when (post-primaries) the media turns on him.

This is from the same group that's going to howl like banshee's if Hillary gets the nomination because, you know, she part of the 1% or something.

Some of this may get me bitchslapped, but that’s okay. When I get enough I’ll make a sweater out of them.

I don’t know if I’ve told this story before, but when I was a little kid my parents had some friends visiting. My dad’s friend pulled out a pouch of chewing tobacco and put a wad in his mouth. I told him I wanted some. The guy looked at my dad, and my dad said to go ahead. Mom just about had a conniption fit, but dad waved her off. The guy gave me just a small amount. I put it in my mouth and within seconds turned green.  It was years before I even thought about touching any type of tobacco products again.

My dad knew that sometimes it takes letting someone see first hand that what they THINK they want is not actually what they need. From now on, that’s how I’m going to vote.

I’m not going to vote for another moderate conservative. If the GOP runs someone like Cruz, I’ll gladly vote for him. If they run another McCain, I’ll vote democrat regardless of who the dem is. I'll give the country what it THINKS it wants.

My thoughts at this point is that if we’re not going to be serious about saving the sinking ship then it is best to go ahead and let it sink so the grownups can begin the salvage operation.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

I won't vote for the Dem, but otherwise I agree. Basically, I just won't vote for the POTUS if all I have to choose from is a lib and a pretend conservative (Chris Christie comes to mind).

The GOP will throw their weight behind whoever they think the media will like.

Or NOT throw their weight behind the GOP candidate.

Just like they did in Virginia.  :argh:

I see your point, Chuck.  Sometimes, you have to give the patient some gawdawful bitter medicine before he gets better, the only problem is the DOE is worse than "Typhoid Mary", spreading the "disease" nationwide.  It can be done, it just might take a 2X4 applied to the forehead of liberals for them to see reason.  (And yes, I MEAN a REAL 2X4!)

They thought the same thing in 2000 with Gulliani, and 2004 with McLame.

The problem is the dolists.  The United States is a big, militarily powerful country.   Greece, Argentina, Chole, Venezuela, Italy, some pissant African country can all sink, hit bottom and have to figure out how to make their culture and economy work.  The (People's) Republic of the United States will adopt a version of the Duquesne Plan and go a conquering to support it's massive welfare state.

You don't think all of those people that are used to getting government money are going to allow the spigot to be turned even down a little bit do you?  No, they will vote for whatever demagogue promises them to keep the money flowing.  We already tolerate a Department of Homeland Security that has jack nothing to do with terrorism.  Next will come expansion to cover the deficits.

You know the clueless left is always wishing people like Cruz would run in the general election, while the instigators on the left are always sabotaging them in the primary while propping the RINO-progressives like Romney and McCain. If Cruz made it out of the primary we are talking about Reagan landslide victory territory.
